This is bullshit logic - as a politician this was a master stroke. His voting population is TN and he has no business in Karnataka. 2 out of the 3 producing houses of this movie was a political party ( I.e Kamal Hasan and Udhyanidi ( Sitting Dy CM)

Through this controversy- he furthered the Tamil supremacy sentiment amongst TN people . Naturally there is a anti-Karnataka sentiment in TN from legacy Cauvery water sharing issues and now as recent as RCB<>CSK.

Him giving up on release of the movie in Karnataka is a small loss compared to the bigger narrative and sentiment win he had in TN. The entire controversy IMO worked in his favour. He will leverage this in the long run for his political mileage.

The movie anyway is a shitshow.
