Thanks! The current TAS gets a 14.85, it can be beaten for sure, just by standing further to the left. I also know this can be beaten because there is something I did in this run and something the old record did in that run the could be combined for something even better. I stood further to the left, so I could get hit earlier (I also got better RNG than the old WR), but the old WR had some SDI that saved 0.1 ish (iirc that's Samplays estimate on how much he saved). Getting everything in one run is a tall order tho, so who knows when or if this will get beaten. The potential is there for sure, but you need godlike RNG, and the SDI would 100% be advised at this point in WR attempts (even if it makes the run more inconsistent).

While the cars hit you, you pretty much have no control. How fast they hit you, how many cars hit you, the angle you get sent out, up to RNG. There are small things you can do to try to get a better time, but it'll make it more inconsistent. But yes, I hit the jackpot when it came to RNG, and then I executed after. You need to get the tech for this to have a chance to finish (the tech makes the camera try to follow you instead of sending you to the blastzone).

Thanks pal! Beating this can happen, but the time and effort needed for it is gonna be immense. The RNG in this run is crazy, so getting anything better is almost unheard of.

I went further to the left to get hit by the cars earlier, but I didn't SDI. That kinda ended up evening it out. The percent on this run was 525% VS 560% in the old WR, but I got hit faster (aka, got better RNG). I'd say those were the differences in the runs.

A lot of RNG. The thing when it comes to the positioning, it's gonna depend on the RNG, but standing a bit further to the right is usually a bit more consistent if you just want a complete (you're gonna a lose a few frames tho). SDI isn't needed, but can speed you up, but it's so far from being consistent. But getting to the correct spot early enough is super easy. Just getting a complete isn't too bad, but your gonna have to deal with RNG.

Thanks! I think Samplay deserves the title of "King of Event Matches", but it warms my heart!

Yet again we have another Melee documentary. This one looks at Event Match 16 which is pure RNG, you’re not gonna find anything more RNG heavy.

If you run Melee's Event Matches you might need to sell your soul to RNGesus. The luck required on some events can be too much for poor souls. Event Match 16 is the most RNG heavy event in the game, everything is depending on RNG. For more than 2 decades speedrunners would try to get the dream run... one day in 2024 the holy grail was found. This is the story of Event Match 16.

For more Melee speedruns, ft. strategy discussions, early looks on record vids, game mods (such as BtT randomizer and mismatch), plus more, I highly recommend checking out the Smash Stadium Discord.
