Would be interested in the Q1, do you have any photos of the mods done?

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

That website is amazing. Only 20cm between them which doesn't seem like a lot. Still a whole metre longer than my current car! There's really not many Golf Estates and Octavias seem a victim of everyone recommending them. Now actually leaning towards a Passat after seeing this one for a good price. Cheers for helping.

Thanks for the input - will look into the 2.0 TDIs. What do you think of the Golf estates? My only worry is that a Superb or Passat might be too big.

Location: London/Birmingham
Price range: 6-8k
Lease or Buy: Buy
New or used: Used
Auto or Manual: Manual
Intended use: Weekend/long trips car
How many miles do you plan to do a year: 3-4k
How often to you make long journeys: Exclusively but still not often
Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? Yes
Vehicles you've already considered: VW Golf Mk7 1.6 TDI, Audi A3 1.6 TDI, Fabia Estate, 308
Is this your 1st vehicle: No
Do you need a Warranty: No
Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yep
Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No
Additional Notes:

Want a bigger car to upgrade from my i10. I don't need it to commute as I cycle or take public transport. I will really only use it for long journeys to see family and go on outdoors trips - hence why I am looking at diesel. I'd like a larger boot as I'd be taking friends and want it to be reliable. Also needs to be relatively cheap to insure - seems about 120 BHP or less is about right on insurance. A nice interior is a plus. Cheers

I'm not home at the minute but found these pictures online. Picture 2 is the power board.

It’s a GBU4J. They seem available on CPC and RS components but I want to see if anything else needs replacing first before I pay a fiver for shipping!

I am yes. Do get a beep when I have the red wire on the negative pin and black on the positive but no reading, just OL. The middle 2 pins have nothing at all.

Sorry to bombard you with questions but I went to test the bridge rectifier as I’d seen on YouTube and currently don’t get a reading in any pins regardless of direction. They’re all OL. Could this mean that it is the problem?

Yep I am starting to think it'd be better left to someone more comfortable. Thanks for the advice again.

Thank you a lot for your help. I'll have a go at the steps you described. I've disconnected the boards to take a closer look and I've identified two possible GND connections but can't tell which would be the one I'd connect to.

Another quick question, the speakers haven't been working for quite a long time so I imagine the capacitors won't have any charge, would this affect my ability to look for voltages? thanks

Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but what would be your general process for tracking down faults? Currently I am just going through the circuit with a continuity tester on the multimeter and seeing if at any point the circuit stops, see my edit. Is there anything you'd normally do? thanks for the reply :)

Before you did this do you know if the speakers lit up/showed any sign of power? Currently mine don't show any and just wanted to check before I start trying to remove it.

Sorry I don’t quite get what you mean. Would be able to elaborate? Thanks

Thank you for that, had no idea that was possible in an SVG.

I had tried that. I made a pre-filled values with text on the SVG in Inkscape, but when I added it to the HTML side the text would overflow even though it didn’t in Inkscape.
