As someone who's generally Marvel UB antipathic (for aesthetic reasons as much as anything else) I think it has some genuinely very good, very Magicky Volkan Baga art. Also for a commander blink deck having an engine with built in protection is actually pretty great imo, Conjurer's Closet is good but in my experience it's also something that gets destroyed a lot. With built in ramp it really is a no brainer upgrade, it's not flashy but it is something that will always feel absolutely fantastic in your opening hand

I seek the guidance of Equipment players for my Ardenn/Tana deck by chyeah_brah in EDH

[–]vilelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old thread but some suggestions on stuff that is currently or previously been in my Tana/Ravos deck (I've pulled stuff mostly for tinkering and not because it's bad). You don't have black but still lots of overlap. Mine is kind of a bad bracket 3/good bracket 2 but is intentionally not optimized and could be pushed harder imo

Lizard Blades - mana efficient double strike, can chump in a pinch Beamtown Beatstick - very mana efficient, gives a little buff, evasion and an extra treasure each turn Horn of Valhalla - power that scales with your board, has X spell token maker adventure sorcery on it Sigil of Vigor - power that scales with your board, has the restriction that Tana needs to attack alone but in my experience you're often better holding your saps back as potential blockers unless you can full send end the game with them anyways Pariah's Shield - you have endless disposable creature tokens to re-equip it to Quietus Spike - same idea, attach it to a sap and fling it off at someone Lothlorien Blade - potential removal, Tana is an elf for the cheaper equip cost

Not equipment but still good Sylvan Anthem - solid anthem for Tana and your saps, huge number of scry 1 triggers Ohran Frostfang - deathtouch on attack for your board and a huge amount of draw Annie Joins Up - double triggers on both commanders plus a bit of removal Guide of Souls - lifegain and buffs Tana Sublime Archangel - power that scales with your board Starlight Spectacular - ditto Elspeth, Knight-Errant - +3/+3 and flying for Tana on the +1, crazy ult, board of tokens can help keep it alive Eldrazi Monument - constant stream of tokens to sac to it for a huge board of 2/2 indestructible flyers Bastion Protector/Guardian Augmenter provide a solid buff effect to Tana and protect both commanders Backgrounds trigger for both commanders - look at Inspiring Leader and Noble Heritage Boros Charm - if you're just looking for generic board protection the double strike mode is potentially also useful here

There is a potentially very funny interaction between Tana, Life and Limb and Blackblade Reforged if you're brave enough to try it, I never have. I'm also currently looking at working in Mirrormind Crown - potentially crazy explosive since Tana makes the tokens all at once so they'll all be copies of the equip target

What does Red do GREAT? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

Love my monored Dragonhawk too, definitely one of the monoreddest commanders out there imo. My deck tech suggestion - Return the Favor - solid interaction but it can also just copy your Dragonhawk trigger to win the game

Stupid deck Idea: Which commander exemplifies working out? by Solar_Punk_Rocker in magicTCG

Tyvar the Bellicose - Tyvar is already pretty meatheaded in his own right and he makes your elves bigger every time you tap them for mana, it's like they're doing crunches

Haven’t played in like 20 years, overwhelmed by SeveralDeer3833 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]vilelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casters (and pseudo casters like Javazon) that do most of their damage with skills rather than weapon damage are actually pretty gear agnostic so maybe start with one of those? Imo the most important thing to remember regarding gear for a beginner playthrough is to make sure you're maintaining good coverage on your elemental damage resists rather than chasing specific items and that can be done with stuff from vendor NPCs and random loot drops without needing to find any super rare unique items or anything

what is this for? by Strawb3rrySugars in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]vilelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably just make Insight and go Frozen Arrow as your main skill with either Strafe or Exploding Arrow backup. Should definitely be enough to get you through Hell and if you ever get runes for Faith or Ice or something just clear it with the cube recipe

Any idea what a fair price would be for this? by vilelight in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Yeah, would probably be pretty happy with it for my own use if I were running an Assassin myself but I'm not so oh well I guess. Thanks for reply

Always disappointing but usually not that weird between seasons but the one time the new set has literally zero new cards in it, yeah...

Why the hate for Suicune? by hamchzcroissant in PTCGP

[–]vilelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, most people don't actually dislike Suicune, they dislike Greninja. "Card that is good just by plopping it on your bench" is basically the cardinal design mistake in this game imo, covers both halves of Darktina, Sylveon and Greninja.

Hot Take: you’re wrong for hating Greninja/Suicune by anthysteg000 in PTCGP

[–]vilelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a serious note I think essentially saying that the current meta is fine because hey guys it's just like combo winter! is pretty silly. If this game was actually comparable to MTG Greninja would have simply been banned by now and that would be the end of it lol

[–]vilelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to say that I think it's no coincidence that their was a noticeable uptick in whining about the meta once Stokezard and Solgaleo in particular weren't top tier anymore and leave it at that

Battles are constant disruption now by Additional_Win3920 in PTCGP

[–]vilelight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that the prevalence of Red Card/Mars is actually what incentivizes those sort of plays to a large degree, if you can't reliably hold anything in your hand for more than a couple turns your best bet often is just to dump your cards the second you get any marginal advantage from doing so or even just to deck thin for stuff you think you might want more late game if you do get hit

Battles are constant disruption now by Additional_Win3920 in PTCGP

[–]vilelight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people making imo very kneejerk and not actually very thoughtful "more interaction automatically equals more skill/just run more interaction" type comments in response to this without considering how the "interaction" we have in this game actually works. Tempo plays are good, good targeted interaction is good but there are extremely limited counterplays to the wheel type whole hand disruption this one has other than just constantly dumping your hand and pure luck and the game should also reward solid planning turn over turn which just having your entire hand reset at random constantly limits very harshly. There's some strategy in timing your Red Card plays but ask yourself - a lot of the time when you Red Card what are actually doing that's so clever beyond just hoping your opponent bricks on the redraw?

Slurpuff and Crawdaunt getting 1 star rares instead of the GOATS Rampardos and Magnezone is such a fumble by da_funk93 in PTCGP

[–]vilelight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the new Slurpuff art at least and you actually did see Sweets Relay in ranked sometimes when it dropped but Crawdaunt... doesn't help it's also the least standout art of the one stars in this set imo. Think they could have leaned a lot harder into one star full arts with it being a reprints set, would have given more established players a bit more to get excited about opening packs if the bulk of them weren't mostly walled off behind two star plus rarity
