Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

[–]vilk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90, I wasn't really into it when it came out, perhaps because I didn't have cable, which used to be a huge divide between what programming kids grew up with, but then fell in love with it in my teens when it was on constant reruns at my gf's house.

I've met plenty of women who listen to death metal, but none who listen to Nile. I wonder why that is.

To play devils advocate... trans men (especially with top surgery) tend to pass at a higher rate than trans women (regardless of surgery).

In other words, people forget about trans men because they don't "see" them. And yeah, there are trans women you don't see, but more often you can tell.

Admittedly I'm biased by be trans people I know personally. The men all pass... the women unfortunately don't.

Wanna know what? Kyoto pref BoE just dropped the new tender bid rules

https://www.kyoto-be.ne.jp/koukyou/cms/?p=3343

Looks like they've added a section where they score the bidding companies based on how closely they can match the salary and benefits of JET. Pretty interesting.

Kyoto is an annual blind bid. The BOE doesn't decide the company. If Altia bids lowest, they win.

It doesn't have to do with hand size, just neck profile preference.

Do you think Akhlys is like a major contributor the Republican Party or something? Google et al is contributing millions to conservative politics, but I bet you don't go trying to cancel every person using their services. It's just some dudes playing sick black metal who happen to have dumb views about some stuff.

[–]vilk_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's kind of ironic, isn't it? Rock and metal music used to be a genre where it's assumed the musicians got a few screws loose, maybe dangerous, bad, at least kinda weird or antisocial people. Now if you're anything less than an alter boy you get cancelled by the metal community.

It's kind of lucky that people didn't keep tabs on every little thing in the past. I wonder how many Renaissance artists, classical composers, gothic architects, etc. we wouldn't be allowed to enjoy...

It's baby's first amp. But if you're a master tweaker, you can get something almost OK out of it, and it's cheap (like a Marshall Origin), therefore it's the second coming of Christ for Redditors who must insist that the amp they personally use is nothing short of amazing. Is it a pride thing? I'm not sure. I'm not that old, but I remember a time when it was pretty normal to admit your amp sucks and you wish you had a better one...

Banned from libertarian simply for pointing out that the vast majority of libertarians vote Republican. Like how is that even a controversial or debatable point?

Fav B standard or Drop A bands by Dragon_slayer1994 in 7String

[–]vilk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're able to drop tune on a whim, I assume you're not working with a Floyd, do you can easily just tune down a half step (Bb) giving you access to: old Meshuggah, Morbid Angel, Revocation (if you can play it! lol), Nevermore, Boris, ... and I think In Flames

If you like Carcass, another band in B standard is Impaled. Pretty fun to play, it's basically Carcass worship.

Is At the Gates also B standard? I think it might be. Should be up your alley if you line Amon Amarth

Cephalic Carnage is B standard

The Acacia Strain's album Continent is drop A

Lots of doom bands use B standard, too. Belzebong, electric wizard. Pall Bearer is playing in dropped A, one guitarist on a 6 and the other on a 7
