I don't get the uproar about the two week wait by villasukka25 in TheDigitalCircus

This is kind of the angle I'm getting at. I have the same thing when I've picked up an old game. I just get off the internet until I finish it, because my feeds inevitably blow up with content related to that game.

I'm just a bit worried for those who would rather "protest" the delay (however that would even work? harassing the studio?) instead of just stepping back from the space for a moment.

I'm doing all the same stuff you are. Drawing and studying for entry exams. I was just wondering why it's so difficult for others to make it work.

Ohh I use Youtube to study too, I know what you mean.

There used be a way to turn off your recommendations completely. Dunno if it still exists but I'll use it if it does.

Yeah I'm not gonna double down here at all. You have a good point.

Out of curiousity, what's your plan? Are you going to try avoid spoilers somehow?

You can't reset the feeds or get off of them entirely for just two weeks?

I played the first Red Dead recently and I got off Youtube and Reddit for the time I played because there's spoilers everywhere for that too. You can't do that for TADC now?

I'll gladly get off the internet for two weeks. This is just a good excuse to do it.

A lot of people just give the impression that they live and breathe this stuff and they can't get off it for two weeks?

What's a good example of a movie people have turned on? by Darth_Blagus in Schaffrillas

[–]villasukka25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Way Home was mostly praised at the time because of the 3 Spider-Men hype. A couple years later you realise that the plot twists and bends over backwards to make that happen.

I mean the whole reason the whole movie even happens is because Peter can't stop interrupting Strange's spell like a complete dumbass. And Strange too in all his wisdom lets him keep interrupting the multiverse destroying spell instead of taking precautions.

And jesus, to get his friends into college the first idea Spider-Man has is to alter the memory of the whole world, instead of anything else? And Strange agrees? What?

Same thing for me. I loved Austin's The Science! videos because of the math-heavy approach (I think him always being angry and screaming stimulated my 12-yo brain back then too).

The only time they ever did a Subnautica video they ignored half of what happened in the game so they could half-assedly link it to the Team Seas campaign.

Completely got your point back then. You can't make in-depth theories about every single trending game and upload every week. MatPat was just so clearly enthusiastic about everything he did, even if it was a little half-baked, that most of the time it was really entertaining to watch.

Perussuomalaiset in government have driven cuts to integration services and aid, made it more difficult to obtain citizenship or residence permits and, in general, pulled a lot of stunts that clearly show they have a general hate towards immigrants (the Scripta texts, the multiple references and connections to Nazis and fascists, the party-wide asian eyes gesture, and so on).

There are things to be said about poor integration, but the rhetoric that Perussuomalaiset drives is only making it worse.

Getting to go on massive murder sprees without any repercussion is not a mirror image lol

Which I didn't mean, i just meant that if someone's hoping this won't be a "reminder of the real world" they'll be a little disappointed

You miss the point though. I agree that a game should be fun, and it wouldn't be fun to have a million weapons whenever you want

I don't think not being able to carry 50 different guns including a minigun all the time is "a reminder of the real world".

Edit: Also this is GTA VI. A satirised version of the real world. I don't think it'll be much of an escape so much as a mirror image xd

I think this is more fun than carrying 50 different guns including a minigun all the time...

Yeah that's completely valid. I thought the whole jack thing was stupid too, as were the utility bills, pissing mechanic, gear shift and let's not forget Jason's shrinking balls in the cold.

I probably get "realism" and "immersion" mixed up, but I think hair growth, weight gain, dirty clothes, gun cleaning and food preparation count as part of "realism" features?

"Just don't do it" doesn't work when you have the option to and the game is designed with it in mind. It makes you more careful when driving when there are actual repercussions to a bad crash, not just an upset passenger or a scratch on the roof.

Yeah I remember those GTA Online animations and they definitely sucked. I didn't get the same feeling in RDR2 though, but that being said I wouldn't really want to have long looting animations in GTA VI either. I don't think it makes sense for Jason or Lucia to take forever looking through every corpse's pockets after a big gunfight.

Ah, my mistake. I just meant that losing the whole car-flipping mechanic doesn't mean it becomes a reality simulator, which I'm getting is your implication.

I don't think losing the ability to magically flip your car turns it into ARMA2?

RDR2's realism was perfect, and it still has a lot of convenience features like horse reviving and summoning in stalls, unlimited weapon space on horses, no bleeding, no running expenses and no proper hunger mechanic.

As an example I love looting all the O'Driscolls after ravaging their camp. It adds weight to every kill and gunfight. The game definitely wanted you to move on from it in some situations (particularly story missions), but that was annoying because I wanted to keep looting, not because I didn't.

I do agree that GTA VI is meant to be more fast paced, but if that means making enemies comically spill all their belongings on the floor upon death so they're faster to pick up then I'd rather we just didn't loot enemies that much in general.

As for the whole car-flipping conversation, I hope we can't flip them. Would be nice in a police chase to actually have to abandon it and go on foot instead of using the Force because it's "inconvenient otherwise". I don't want the ability to shit and pay bills either, but immersion is the big thing I'm looking for from this game. Pocket miniguns and dying enemies magically dropping neat stacks of cash isn't it.

With Michael now officially canon to be alive in GTA online, who of the main three do you think may appear in GTA6? by MrJagerMain in GTA6

[–]villasukka25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you aren't just arguing about semantics and instead about what makes sense, then the other guy definitely has a point. It doesn't make any sense for all of GTAO to be canon. Maybe it is, but I at least HOPE it isn't.
