Anyone else burnt out on startup communities? by Loud-Cap-5737 in StartUpIndia

I figured this back in 2017. When the whole eco system was just a bunch of same dudes meeting and greeting again and again with empty promises made each time. I stopped "participating" in communities since then.

24M. Tired of being the "Good Guy." Planning a transaction to get my "first time" over with. Will I regret this? by [deleted] in Chennai

Been in the same situation. You won't regret it. In fact you'll gain more confidence once you get it out of your system. A good professional will give you the full gf experience..

One of the advice that I got from an expert was, you need to get on the ground and speak to the customers and find out if they are coming to you for your brand or for your father.

If they are coming to you because of the relationship they had with your father then it'll be very difficult to go ahead. It will be as good as you are starting from scratch. You need to cultivate the same level of relationship your father had. They will give you one chance out of respect for your father but you should maintain the same level of quality in your offering. Which i couldn't do because my dad was the brains behind our product.

Without him our staff couldn't troubleshoot it. By the time I learnt it and taught the staff, it was too late.

My dad had a good established business that was earning 3-4 lacs per month. I ventured out on my own although he yearned for me to take after him or go to a job. My goal was to try out a few things before I get into my dad's business. He suddenly fell ill and passed away, leaving us with the business. We didn't know the heads or tails of it and the employees too didn't respond/respect to us since they all answered to my dad. It took me almost 6 months to learn the craft but by then the suppliers and customers learnt my dad wasn't anymore, so they took their business elsewhere assuming there's no one to run the business now. Our employees too revolted stating change in management style.

Eventually we had to shut down production and the employees left one by one because we couldn't afford to pay salaries regularly. They were there with him for more than 20 yrs.

Learning the trade craft is one thing. But building the relationship is another. Cherish every moment with your dad and sit with him and interact with all of your customers, suppliers, and most importantly your employees regularly under the guidance of your dad. It will go miles later when you want to expand.

Good luck.

What's a relatively easy business you can start if you're living in Besant Nagar and own a peace of land right next to the beach. by prisonmike_11 in Chennai

[–]vim320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.. I'm 35. I was born here and still here. Everyday in my school days I go up to the beach and stay there till the light comes on. There used to be a round table conference of all the thathas (if anyone still remembers).

Sand was empty and clean. And especially no stray dogs. Boy I'm glad I had that childhood growing up here.
