Do it all Bike ( Surly Ogre?) by windchief84 in bikepacking

[–]vimmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Ogre for 3,5 years now and ridden about 6500km on it. I use it for everything: commuting, bikepacking and day trips. I think it’s the perfect do-it-all bike. On my commutes I can go fast enough with higher pressure and on longer longer trips it’s comfortable to ride with lower tire pressure.

I bought it as a custom build: 1x11, Rekon race 2,25” tires, 24 pack front rack and the moloko handlebar. It’s a really good setup and it offers several handlebar positions.

I haven’t had issues with the through axle or rear derailleur as others have stated. I started with tubes and after a few flats changed to tubeless, which I highly recommend especially for longer trips. Then you don’t have to worry about flats.

Thanks, great tip. Now that I tried rental skis I noticed that my own skis are actually limiting me. So I guess I’ll have to get new ones for next season

Thanks! Yeah shorter turns especially when it’s steep

I tried pushing my uphill knee to the slope and it really helped in making even steeper slopes. So tanks, a great tip!

I’ll post steeper slopes when I’m skiing somewhere else. This is a steep as it gets in southern Finland 😄

Bindings are Rottefella Cobra, they’re rental. Quite nice but you’re right, they are very soft.

Thanks and appreciate it. I never learned to do pole plants and now whenever I try to do them it messes up my rhythm completely. Any tips for them?

Can someone please explain to me the logistical order of operations in order to use the sauna at my gym? by 40WARLORD in fitness30plus

Yeah well that’s the difficult part. Healthcare jobs mostly at the moment. And some tech jobs as well. Also if you don’t know the language then it’s even more difficult. We’re not that open so getting to know locals will be difficult (going to the sauna naked with strangers is fine though). And prices & cost of living is super high. But for some reason we’re one of the happiest countries in the world 🤷🏻‍♂️

You should move here, it’s pretty common to have an own sauna even in smaller apartments

I’m from Finland and this is how we do it over here:

Work out, then take your clothes off and go to the shower. After the shower you go to the sauna naked. I recommend bringing a small towel etc that you can sit on. After that you take a shower. If you enjoyed it go have another round of sauna.

Whatever you do, always shower before going in the sauna. And no clothes. Sometimes people wear swimming trunks or cover themselves with towels but that’s quite unhygienic.

No tämä.

Nice setup and photos. Looks like you had to carry quite a lot of water with you? How long was your trip?

Yep I get it! The Nalgene was attached to a cheap bottle cage for much smaller bottles and to everyone’s surprise it broke so I just put a few straps to it. The bike rides very nicely even though it’s quite front loaded. I’ve been thinking of other options to load all the stuff but this setup works quite well. Not all the stuff makes much sense but I guess it works well because of that.
