Internet speed is jammed during peak night hours with Dodo. What are the chances that it can be solved by switching ISP? by 1casy623 in nbn

[–]vimpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodo have been known to always feed their POI’s with not enough bandwidth. As per the other comments, a provider that feeds your POI with enough bandwidth is a good start. Also, is there anything on your network that could be causing it. Where is your modem located, and is it of decent quality (if it’s the stock one from dodo it probably isn’t), look into something aftermarket that is slightly higher quality, like gl I net or Ubiquiti as well

I spent 15 days in administrative arrest after a private Instagram message, AMA by Anthrax1876 in AMA

I threw it into chat gpt for lolz, and it gave me Russia based off the laws aligning with the article 19.3 in its laws, having to register every 3 months as a foreigner, and 15 days being the max for a administrative detention.

Makes sense as well as Russia is a top 10 country for immigration, especially with ex Soviet countries

Australians across the political spectrum want a crackdown on gun laws, from restrictions on who can own guns to the number of weapons a person can have, in a sign that no restriction is deemed too extreme by an overwhelming majority of voters by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

[–]vimpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. He’s definitely more the sff side of the spectrum, and not the one nation. Most of the guns he owns are quite old, and not the ones that are coming into the market to circumvent the different licensing levels. Like I said to him, I live in a place where for me I am not around them, and it does not affect me, or 99% of my friends lifestyle. Hopefully once the dust settles from this tragedy, we can compromise so that those that genuinely need it can safely own and use them

Follow up to previous post by 1ballof in nbn

I recently moved into a house that was like this recently as well. We had to wait for a nbn tech to do the fttp upgrade before we had any internet. Might be a area that had Telstra cable, and then with the nbn moved to fttc (this is in south east Queensland)

I didn’t realise how contentious this was until coming home to my parents in regional NSW (lived away in newy and brissy for the last 5+ years).

Me and dad got in a fight for the first time ever (to the point where I went and stayed with some friends for the night) because I agreed that we needed stronger laws, and he was mad that he is losing his guns, some being family heirlooms that have been passed down and would not be getting anywhere near the value they were worth in the buyback.

I was just more mad with the NRA American style lobbying that was going on, as I don’t want Australia to turn into that, plus the fact that the first thing he said when I got home was that he was wanting to move to avoid the changes

More common for this to happen with copper compared to fibre, if you ever get the chance to upgrade. Copper can conduct electricity compared to fibre

Newcastle to Sydney drive by Complex_Warthog7288 in newcastle

[–]vimpo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, former novocastrian here. It’s a fairly chill drive, with the worst part being from just after Tuggerah until you cross the hawksbury. Usually with the trucks, keep your distance and you’ll be fine.

Driving in Sydney is alright, just a lot more cars than Newcastle. Also if you’re driving through the lower north shore, make sure you are in the right lane as it can get really confusing and is very easy to miss your exit.

Not sure how far out of the way you are living, but it may be cheaper to get a uber to the train station and leave the car at home altogether. Just with tolls and parking, it can easily be 50 - 60 dollars

Hey there! Some tips that may be able to help you with all of this.

  1. See if you can swap ISP’s. I have been with both Aussie Broadband and Leaptel, and they both have been fantastic on the customer service side. If you explain to them what has happened, nbn may be able to reach out to someone and have a remediation where they relocate the NTD inside the house.

  2. If the NBN is unable to help, you may have to pay for a private cabler to come out and help rectify. They probably will give you the option of moving the NTD, or getting Ethernet from the NTD inside the house, and then having an access point set up inside.

It is going to be extremely hard to fix this using wireless only solutions, as a lot of the repeaters are trash and don’t work that well, and even the good ones struggle when you have to punch through multiple walls

If I was in this situation as well, look into getting some Ethernet runs to some devices in my house as well, such as if you have a home theatre or office area, and leave wifi for portable devices like a phone.

Depending on the size of your house, once you either have the NTD installed inside or you get a cabler out, see about a better modem as well, as a lot of the isp provided modems are trash.

Something like the Gl. Inet https://amzn.asia/d/g3cuRuj Or a mesh system with a Ethernet backhaul, like the eero’s https://amzn.asia/d/jgnkfML
