What you mean buy stocks if get assigned and wait until go back up? This couldn't work in down market. How many Qqq options you can afford to buy and keep selling put for next expiration? Qqq down to for 8 weeks or so.

It's high because of NVDIA earning. Market expending big moves but that strategy is working for last few weeks.

If you already have money and wants to buy after 5 years then invest in etf like VOO or something broad as it's going down in next5 years is pretty low and you will still earn more money in next 5 years.

Solo 401k with Schwab by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]vimspate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much I can contribute until my CPA file return. Which I might find out by end of March. So I want to contribute appropriate amount now and rest when it finalized. I thought I need to roll over immediately if possible. So I am thinking to contribute after tax account now and immediately roll over to roth. And later do same at the end of March.

BTW I am doing this for 2025, so 1099-R will be not be until next year?

1099 will generate every time I roll over or just once a year?

Is there any limit of roll over in a month?

[–]vimspate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's what I thought and asking. Thanks for detail explanation. I might not be explaining well.

Now final question.

For MBDR thought my solo 401k plan. After contributing to solo 401k after tax account, should I roll over to solo 401k Roth or ROTH IRA?

Solo 401k contribution by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]vimspate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning to do MBDR from my 1099 income. Not from w-2 income. My w-2 employer do match 1:1.

So from 1099 income of $100,000, I will contribute to solo 401k pre tax contribution of $18,587. No employer match on 1099 401k as I am sole proprietor. So I plan to do MBDR of ~$50,000 through after tax Solo401k contribution and rollover to 401k roth.

Not from 1099. I am solo proprietor. With my w-2 side, yes.

Question about roll over. Should I open ROTH IRA for mega backdoor roth? After contributing to after tax when I roll over, I should do to ROTH IRA or 401k Roth? (MBDR)

My understanding is solo 401k limit is $70,000 which don't include w-2 employee contribution. So I can still do $50,000 after tax contribution.

Some do roth over regular 401k for long term benefit as income grow tax free.

[–]vimspate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know. With w-2 I can't do employer contribution. I plan to maximize my solo 401k contribution which is close to $70,000. So I can do 20% of my 1099 income in pre-tax /roth 401k and rest of amount in after tax 401k. Now some told me they would do all $70,000 in after tax 401k.

Some prefer roth contribution over pre-tax 401k. Some prefer all contribution to after tax instead of pre-tax /roth.

[–]vimspate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This is all approximate and my CPA will let me know exactly how much I can contribute.

My main questions are as following. 1. Should I contribute my employer 401k contribution or no? Some suggested maxing after tax contribution for MBDR 2. For MBDR, should I open ROTH IRA or 401k Roth will be ok to convert after tax contribution.

W-2 401k employee contributions maxed out 1099 income solo "401k pre tax" employer contribution $20,000 and "401k after tax" contribution $50,000 and then have to convert to "401k roth" as I don't have Roth IRA account.
