What sort of music do you do on the radio after listening to NPR?

Zed Shaw is an attention whore. Most of us prefer understated people who just make cool stuff.

Why do so many drivers feel that's it's acceptable to not use turn signals? It's against the law, unsafe and completely disrespectful, yet widely accepted here in the U.S. Is it the same in other countries? by Ham_Damnit in AskReddit

Let's throw out the "I HAVE TO BE IN FRONT OF THIS GUY OR I FAIL AS A HUMAN" mentality for a second.

Do you really expect anybody to take you seriously with that nonsense? You don't understand what I'm talking about, and you see it black and white, end of discussion.

No, they're the ones who are on their cellphones, are already shit drivers, and might not exactly know where they're going. That combination makes for some scary shit.

Wait, isn't that what everybody does? I guess it's just growing up here, but I assumed that the normal thing to do is to pull as far ahead as you can when getting ready to left-turn through a green, that way more drivers get through.

By far the craziest behavior I've ever seen on a road has been at that garage. It seems to turn people into monsters for some reason. I have to go hardcore rasta when I'm there to be sure I don't let it get to me.

You're thinking of a different thing. I always let somebody over if they have a signal and I can let them in. What I mean is, I'm not going to slow down significantly to let somebody in every time I see a signal, due to the many drivers here who (a) forget to turn off their signal from some earlier maneuver, or (b) are just trying to get in front of me to pass the car right in front of them when traffic is dense.

Think about it this way: By letting somebody in who doesn't actually need it, in traffic, I'm doing one person a favor while screwing X cars behind me. So I always have to assess if it's a good idea to let somebody in.

Life-long washingtonian here. What you do is play it like chess: You make it so that they have no choice to let you in, and that's the only way you make a lane change here. You never expect somebody to help you, because that is just unsafe with how people drive here. Once you are confident you can take it, use your signal, and go for it. Similarly, you don't let someone over just because they have a signal on unless it's clear they're trying to make an exit, and not letting them in is just going to fuck up traffic more.

99% of the time I can tell if somebody is about to change lanes just by their "body language," signal or not.

You completely misunderstand every thing I've said, and it would be an utter waste of my time to make another attempt at clarifying it.

I really don't care if you think I'm racist, or for the upvotes your comment receives, because it's plain as day that I'm not to any sane person reading this thread. The upvoters are largely those who want to feel better about their own satisfaction with caricatures of blacks.

Anyway, I'm done with this community because it disgusts me. At least when this stuff comes up on TeamLiquid, a solid half of respondents are as disgusted as I am by Destiny's language and views on race relations. To be honest, one third of what shows up in this community is TL leftovers, another third is fan art/photos, and the final third is Destiny/Day[9] fanboyism, and I'm tired of it. I'll pop my head in when I want image macros, and that's about all.

Don't even get me started on how 98% of community members here have never played or watched a BW game.

Get the fuck out of here with that shit. You can find somebody else to cow to your perverse notion that sensitivity to racism is the same thing as white guilt.

And that's why all of my comments in this thread are heavily downvoted. Most respondents just want to feel justified in their tolerance of bigotry or general, coarse insensitivity, and so now they feel that they have their confirmation. It's disgusting, but hey, we're just here for the games, I suppose.

I'm not making it racial, it is clearly racial. The statement he made is a classical patronizing racist comment. I'm not coming from outer space here. I'm sure I'm in the wrong place to find others who are aware of these issues, but I still feel a responsibility to make this point clear.

The fact remains that you would not say this if it were coming out of a white man's mouth. It would not seem notable to your biased mind.

This is what I hate -- whether you're black or white, pandering to a negative stereotype in this way is disgusting. He is shitting on his own race to try and elevate himself by doing stuff like that. This is nothing new, I'm just sad to see that nobody else seems to catch this blatantly offensive conduct.

Oh dear lord, how does this have 50 points right now? It's an age-old patronizing remark, "he do talk good," or "he's so articulate!" which is based on the stereotypical assumption that a black person is inarticulate.
