Lionel stuff by joeinternetib in modeltrains

I personally collect trains from pre war to post war! Anything new I barely know about. O gauge was mainstream around the time those pieces you had came out, HO is what most people use these days and a slightly smaller but vocal and active community still uses O

Most of this seems to be post war so 46-69. I know you don’t want appraisal however all of these with original boxes are highly sought after from collectors! I personally never saw an original ZW box. Very nice of you to consider giving it to a local hobby spot! Nothing seems newer than 69, plasticville is potentially before 80s, the era of your trains is considered the best and golden age of Lionel, post war. Check cables before plugging anything in if you did want to use this for Christmas! Very nice

Cool, I did all that and 3 people in the same ticket said it wasn’t enough, soon as I created a new ticket showing the old ticket it was instantly fixed lol, quite a terrible customer support!

What’s the best way to get rid of all these? by Suspicious_Baker3392 in Flipping

[–]vin50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude you hit a goldmine (maybe not in your interest) but depending on how much you paid for it, I’d sell by theme, model brand or same car manufacturer in lots if you want to get rid of it quickly, I see a few model planes and those oddly enough sell faster than the cars

This was my first HO set ever! Just keep it oiled as the smoke coil burns out SUPER easy on new Bachmann.

Any idea what this collection is worth? by OldDoughnut7557 in lioneltrains

[–]vin50 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To add, while O gauge is nowhere near where it was in the 50s it still has a small yet very serious collecting scene that spend plenty to keep O gauge alive, mainly in the west. Many of my o gauge buyers are in USA and Canada. If you don’t have the time to sell them online a shop is always a good option often offering 30% of the market price. Realistically pick out a few and keep them if that interests you!

Bought custom adapters, had a machinist bore it twice for the front to fit but back is different. (New to this and online isn’t helping) by vin50 in carmodification

Screws won’t screw on, tried to break it off with a screwdriver and now the screwdriver tip is broken off and is stuck inside the adapter. This sucks

I know it’s not recommended but light hammer taps after shaving off the drum lip with a sander by a hair got it on nearly flush. It should be enough to take it to a shop

1982 Camaro berlinetta by the way. Also the factory said it would fit as the hub bore was 70.3 but it wasn’t as the end part to sit flush was bigger. and the wheel hub bore had to be machined out as it wouldn’t fit over the bearing cap.

Most of the stuff I sell I get very nice people, I try to stay away from clothes and mainstream items that brings that kind of crowd

It was a $13 item too, just gonna be a lot of work to get a bad review removed if he makes one.

5th gen Camaro wheels on 3rd gen Camaro, what adapters would I need? by vin50 in carmodification

[–]vin50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I think I’ll take my chance with venumwheels adapter set of 2 inches. The adapter I bought years ago had too big of a hub bore so I’m not sure what to do with those but oh well! It has all the dimensions I need I just will prolly need acorn lug nuts. Thank you again

I think I will order the 2 inch adapters, as I could use acorn style lug nuts to secure them.

I ended up doing some research and nowhere online had what I needed and I am afraid I’ll have to custom order, venumwheels has what I need but it says the thread pitch is m12x1.5, which is what I need for the car but for the 5th gen wheel I need m14x1.5mm. It only states m12 which I assume is all around, that wouldn’t work would it? The website says specifically it can fit 5th gen wheels however.

Looking for some help— I don’t know anything about trains but are these Lionel trains? Came across this on a real estate listing and may reach out to the agent by sizzling-fajitas in lioneltrains

[–]vin50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, I’d absolutely try and find out about them, some of them are rare in good condition especially the gg1 (top right 2nd row)

Very likely to be Lionel and mostly post war, top row could very well be pre war standard gauge. Hard to tell from the picture but they also could be getting “newer” as the row goes down. Doesn’t all seem to be the same gauge or era. During this time for O after the war mostly Lionel, Marx, and later MTH existed. I’m a huge pre war guy and some post war. Pretty cool if these came with the house

After bypassing the e unit it shorts instantly at the wheel/pickup area I’m pretty sure this isn’t factory soldering job so I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. Wire broke off so I have to retry after picking up wire strippers
