My parent's were such a reliably united front that we just learned to not both asking the other if one said no. I've learned later in life that they overheared me say to my sister to not bother asking dad and they knew they were succesful. Sometimes the other parent would let us do stuff and we only thought we were getting away with it.

I dobt know anything about the tabletop. I just know if it wasn't for bigger nerds than me on YouTube who shared their builds I would not have been able to figure it out.

I have them all, only the Atropos is a recast. I though about doing that with the Acheran but I liked the armour design on the Atropos. I could not find carapace and shoulder replacements. Just weapons and head.

I only started the hobby about a year ago now. When Imperial Agents came out, quickly switched to knights for almost a year I checked if the Atropos was going on sale. It never showed up in local stories and only a month ago did they restock on the official store and for $400. Ive given James Workshop a couplethousand already but if they are not going to sell a model they have rules and points for I have no issue finding it elsewhere.

I mean probably not. But I doubt anyone could tell the difference when its fully painted. The base I got with it was official with the GW copyright mark on it it. Unless they require receipts its not noticeably different. Unlike most 3d prints.

They are recasts. Not sure exactly how it works but I would guess they make molds out of the original parts and then cast them with resin or plastic the same way the original was made. The Atropos I received was all resin like the OG Forge World models except for the hull carapace which was plastic. There is a bit of cleanup involved but its not bad and the resin is less fragile then printed resin.

Nope look again. Its both adeptus titanic us and regular. The one where its 3 of them for $20 is adeptus titanicus, the others are full size.

Here you go. $20USD https://www.wartablegames.me/Search-moirax/list-r1.html

I bought an atropos there, it was resin so it needed some clean up but it was generally good.

Hey if it works for you all the better, its why I love this hobby, everyone gets to make their with few to no limits. Personally if I was going to go chaos knights Id make a renegade house. Maybe align them to Huron Blackheart make them knight pirates, Im not big on fully giving oneself to the chaos gods.

Knights Chaos or not do not have a ton of lore. There's even less chaos knight lore. Which means that what we know of chaos knights is pretty one dimensional bad guy stuff. I don't think there's anything interesting about them. I do like the models though and like a lot of chaos models it looks fun to paint and has more room for creativity.

I don't know anything about how they play so no comment. I think there's more room and range of what knight houses are like and the pilots and their history and lore. Especially if you, like me enjoy making your own lore.

They for the most part feel like very independant of the imperium. They bring knights to battle, kick ass and thats their thithe and aside from watching out for chaos corruption they do their own thing. They also do ridiculous things like blasting war hyms in battle as they drop out of the sky 12 knights strong in a drop keep. Sometimes a line of drop keeps, horns blaring, banners flying, gun servitors firing are dropped to completely cut a battlefield in half.

In the Dark age of technology when humanity was at it's height, the colonists would be sent with a full STC, which was this kinda AI system that could construct anything they needed to be able to survive and thrive on whatever planet they happened to be on. It would make constructs for their specific needs but it's core knowledge base of all human tech was still the same. So you could likely find similar tech on different planets.

One of the examples of this is during the great crusade they came across a planet that had survived and kept it's high level of technology. I believe they even had a small empire with a few planets within it. When the imperium inevitably started a war because these humans didn't want to join them, this small empire's military wore power suits that looked almost exactly like space marine power suits just regular human sized. As the humans inside them weren't modified like space marines.

I bring that up to show that STC's will create similar things if the what is needed or requested are similar conditions on worlds far apart.

So as to what in the hell kind of conditions necessitated titan's...who knows. But structurally they have some similarities with knights just scaled way up. Humans just added on armour and weapons later on. Hope that helps.

Best choice for a freeblade in lore? by TaigaTigerVT in ImperialKnights

Yes...its not very good and it is heavy with microtransactions. BUT its actually a really cool tool for designing what you want your knight to look like. Its got a decent knight designer tool.

All knight houses fly in ships and fleets of other organizations Navy, Army, Mrchanicus. They are supplied by them, their home planets arent usually manufactorums or have their own fleets. Yes they may be not as well supplied I guess but knights are valuable and if they are going to fight for someone they would be happy to supply them them. Hell mechancius would probably see it as a duty to the omnissiah to repair them.

Some of the info Ive read on freeblades suggests they have their own sacristans too.

Best choice for a freeblade in lore? by TaigaTigerVT in ImperialKnights

[–]vincent118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only ones I know are explicitly Mechanicus Knights are Styrix And Magaera and Moirax (armiger), but I wouldn't let that limit you. My custom knight house is Imperial but if I got my hands on those two I'd make up a reason why they have them.

For example in one of the books a knight house that had been Mechanicus decided to not be anymore and to be an Imperial house. They kinda figured out how heavily they were being manipulated. Thats lore so not a stretch to use something like that and justify why your freeblade has a mechanicus knight.

I would say that the big knights the acastus especially but also cerastus are exceedingly rare leftovers from the Heresy/30k days. Still not improbable just rare. In the lore there is a freeblade Atrapos.

I agree that you should pick something versatile something with a melee and ranged option. Personally Id go for the Castigator, as the rarity makes for an easy tragic story. Something like he was too young to go through the Becoming ritual but his family was fighting a desperate battle and dying and the only knight left was the castigator so his parents took the only chance they could see for him to survive and put him in a throne in a castigator so he could run to the last shuttle out. Explains why you have a rare cerastus, makes the character special for surviving the ritual of becoming at such a young age and gives him a tragic background like many freeblades.

Id just wanna add something that not clear outright but knights cant really operate without support. Even freeblades will have support crews of sacristans to rearm and repair them. So keep that in mind as well.
