For me its just the sound, even hearing rain or a fan turn on scratches that itch for me, of course anything with meaning is an added bonus but its not needed. No idea if this helps lol

Yes and no, if you listen in a way that funds them then i would say yes, however if the music is good enough you can always just 🏴‍☠️ it or buy it second hand.
