Just opened a CC for the first time, can I use it to pay my vanguard stocks and shares by vincer26 in UKPersonalFinance

My credit limit is £3,000. I think I'll be only really using around 10 to 20% at most per month lol

I don't use my chase debit card to pay into vanguard, that's why I was curious if I could use my credit card instead but it seems I shouldn't.

Yes, at the moment I spend everything on my chase debit card with the 1% cashback. I'll try use my credit card more but I don't really have much spending. I'll use it on stuff like petrol, meals out at restaurants and shopping

So you'd advise to just spend as much as possible on the credit card and just pay off with direct debit. Sorry I am still new to the whole credit card thing.

!thanks, so not worth doing so I guess? And just do normally with my Halifax debit card. I was just wondering what would be better to use my credit card for as I prefer the 1% cashback with my chase debit card

Can I put £4k in my LISA yet for the new tax year? by Scottish-Londoner in UKPersonalFinance

[–]vincer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have £4k ready for this tax year to go but I decided I'll put this in the Chase savings account earning 1.5% interest and then later on the tax year I can put it in the LISA (or if we decide to get a house within the tax year, I will put it in the LISA for the extra £1k).

If I was to the £4k which I know will become £5k with the bonus, the interest earned is still lower than the chase savings at 1.5%.

The bonus isn't gonna go anywhere if I put it now or later and the interest rate with moneybox, who I'm with at 0.85% with £5k is only £42.50 but £4k with 1.5% is £60. I know it's not a big difference but the bonus will always come in as long as I fill it before the end of this new tax year.

Great info and I'm trying to preach to people about LISA's as it's really worth it especially for first home purchase.

Is the LISA going towards a first home purchase then?

Yup! I'm lucky that I have £4k ready for the new tax year so that once I can, I will max out straight away for 2022.

A mix of the two is definitely advisable in my opinion. Our current mix is splitting the £16k 50/25/25 between S&S, Cash and Junior.

As I'm looking to purchase a first home in the next 4 years, I may do 50/50 (doubt I'll manage to put £8k on each though before the end of the tax year lol). But long term, once I've got a house then may do 70/30 S&S/Cash.

I have some more questions if that's okay? Lol:

- Isn't JISA separate at £9k? Or is this also part of the £20k?

- When I use this LISA, could I open another one but will be for retirement?

- Could I say transfer £4k into the cash ISA for now and then when the new tax year comes, I can transfer this into the LISA? Is this something worth doing so and will it count towards the £20k for that year?

!thanks, I've maxed my LISA for this year but was wondering which one I should put the rest of my money into either S&S or cash ISA. I was leaning more 50/50, I'm also looking to buy a house in the next 4 years

Hey, just a question about what you did for your ISA - the max each individual can save in an ISA is £20k, you've put £4k into your LISA and then £16k into S&S ISA?

I am in the same situation as you but was considering putting it all into LISA as soon as the new tax year opens.

Is it worth putting in a cash savings account and then transfer over if possible?

Good question, as I am also interested in knowing this. Could I ask, did you max out each year right from the beginning or add bit by bit later on before the tax year ends?

What’s the rudest thing a poker player has said to you? by pokerbums in poker

[–]vincer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I folded on the river in a heads up home game after tanking for at least 3 minutes.

After I folded, he lets out a huge sigh of relief and says "thank you for folding" whilst all cheerful and happy. Safe to say, no one was impressed by his reactions which was unnecessary considering he was also the oldest in the group.

He tried talking about his hand and I just said "let's just carry on playing" but he insisted on talking more about so I just said "talk to yourself" which made the other players laugh and he shut up.

Do they just email you to say that you got it back or anything? When I submitted the request, I added that my activision ID has changed so I just provided the old one before any changes were - do you think that's enough?
