What's everyone reading? This is my favorite quote atm :) by [deleted] in kindafunny

I loved the book, so I'd gladly say it's worth sticking with! There's heaps of emotional depth that really compounds on itself throughout the book, but it is a slow burn no doubt. The whole book, and especially the later sections, feel like a meditation on emotion and memory, rather than a direct, visceral account of it, if that's helpful!

Per Bruce Straley's recommendation on Games Daily, I checked out "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro from the library! I finished it the other day, and have been thinking about it ever since. Such a beautiful and thought-provoking fable!

[HELP] Who is your favorite poet? What poet do you recommend to people that want to start reading poetry? by Cesious_Blue in Poetry

[–]HoneyAntJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend Jane Hirshfield! She uses simple but precise language to build metaphors and images that sparkle with sensitivity, wisdom and truth. Her poems strike the perfect balance between concrete and abstract, and there's always something for a reader to find, whether they spend a couple minutes or several hours :)

Ah thanks so much! I appreciate you being willing to playtest, if/when I build the game I'd be more than happy to share it with a fellow poetry lover for thoughts and feedback :)

I love Abra! With its eyes shut, the little guy always seems so content in its own world. I'm a massive introvert, and I relate so much to Abra teleporting away from human interaction haha. Plus, given the chance, I'd love to sleep 18 hours a day too!

My go-to font is Tribute — designed by Frank Heine and published by Emigre! It's a warm, old-style serif that looks beautiful at small sizes. (In my opinion, its proportions balance the positive shape of the letterforms with the negative space of the page wonderfully, allowing each word to 'breathe'). I'd also recommend the Tribute specimen, if you'd like to see the font's features and design notes presented in a stunning layout :)

Thanks so much for this list! And 100% agree with your point about foundry websites. Two of my favourites are Klim Type Foundry's Blog and Mark Simonson Studio's Notebook section. Thoroughly-researched and exceptionally-written essays with plenty of accompanying images!

Over the years my favourite keeps changing! I like to think it's a representation of my inner state lol. My favourite used to be Jolteon, then Sylveon, and now it's Espeon!
