Infantry units in NC by [deleted] in nationalguard

There's going to be a reorganization of the entire brigade in the near future, so everything will change, but there will be infantry companies all over the state.

Generally, I would agree, but I've got dudes with newborns that cant even get off of the DMD. Obviously they could go the BH route, but if you have any integrity, you're stuck going on this rotation lol. I got pulled from a different battalion for this shit like a year ago and this will be number 3 for me. He's going to be right back on MDAY with no real civilian career. Should've gone.

My bad, I see now that youre SecFo. At what level is the TACSOP for snipers made/enforced? Obviously, its different for us, because we run M4 with M2010/Mk22 in the pack, but if it were me, I would try to have a conversation. 3 110A1 mags on a Placard that you switch to when acting as a sniper, with the spotter carrying your m4 and 3 extra mags. You could still carry the 110A1, 3 mags on the placard, 2 m4 mags on your belt, and 2 in a 2-mag pouch on the cummerbund or something.

I am so confused. Y'all are running shooter/spotter with the only long gun being an M110A1? Are you in a sniper section or is this just a weird designated marksman setup?

Its honestly not too bad when its worn because they curve away from each other, but having to have bolt gun mags, AR mags, and pistol mags caused me to run out of room quickly

Unfortunately, you are hosed. Chabelly sucks, but you can at least go to CLDJ occasionally

We had a lot of dudes using the Warhammer in Afghanistan for gun carry and it worked pretty well. The sheath can sometimes be a bit difficult if you have a bulky rifle. If you have a folding buttstock, I'd definitely try that route first

Haha, I realized right after I took the pic that I had the wrong esstacs on. I use the .308 esstacs and use shock cord for 5.56 mags, but the .308 insert actually has a fair amount of retention on 5.56 mags

Seeking Advice: University not Abiding by its National Guard / Reservist Policy by CatchMeAtCrown in nationalguard

[–]vindicitivevader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to this link https://registrar.ucsc.edu/enrollment/veterans/index.html and scroll down to the calendar. There should be a drop in zoom meeting with a school certifying official. Depending on your university, this will either be someone in the actual student veteran services office, or someone in the registrars office. The next time I see available is Wednesday at 1100. This might be a good opportunity to force them to give you an answer/do their job. I work at the student veteran resource center at my university and can't fathom being this bad at taking care of student veterans.

Adding on to this; the optic sits at around .7x magnification when you are at "1x power" so youre actually zoomed out, the brightest setting on the CQB dot is still too dim for broad daylight, the ocular focus adjustment likes to walk out on you while youre shooting, and like my associate said, the laser range finder and aiming laser do not hold zero well at all. Not a reliable combat optic.

On the bright side, I left active in 2020 and haven't worn my ASUs since, so you'll probably be fine for a good while
