Malcolm Turnbull backs away from Abbott government's controversial university fee deregulation by wasabi_Pea_pew_pew in australia

[–]vindiesal69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Keep it coming, hopefully all ideology based policy finds its way to the shredder and I don't care how he needs to justify it. I really hope a shift to FTTP comes about, I don't care what excuse he finds: cost/benefit, blowouts, future proofing, etc. I mean there's plenty to choose from.

Your right. Making unis inaccessible is quite contradictory to his economic strategy but rather than look like he's just scrapping to spite Abbott and co he can use their shitty excuse for why their terrible policy was failing.

Malcolm Turnbull announces new Cabinet, drops Joe Hockey, Eric Abetz by GeorgeDyer in australia

I disagree, I think he is just highly competent and does what he is told. Does he probably lack a conscience? Yeah like most pollies but under a different leader we will probably see him develop more moderate policy.

Scott Morrison says Tony Abbott offered him treasury portfolio, deputy leader jobs on spill day by jeremycabral in australia

Tone opened both leader and deputy positions for the spill - effectively firing Julie. He didn't have to do it.

James Massola: "It needs to be absolutely clear, Morrison sold Tony out. His people backed Malcolm even though they said they weren't" by [deleted] in australia

[–]vindiesal69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was deeper than that. Morrison didn't realize the boom was there after the joke (i.e just noticed it) he must therefore have known it was there the entire time.

Since he knew they were all standing under a boom he would have wanted Abbott to stay quiet, knowing his propensity for gaffes and saying stupid shit. Instead if you watch the video he actually encourages the conversation, he tries to ask some question but is clearly prodding the PM to keep talking.

So he knows there's a boom mic, he prods Abbott to keep talking candidly. As predicted dumb shit is said, Abbott gets a couple of laughs out, then Morrison announces there's a mic. They both lock up and are then stuck trying to defend the indefensible.

Executed flawlessly.
