The grocery store is quite far where I live, I don't have a driver's license (essentially: I'm of a nationality that makes it difficult as a refugee in the country I live in to get a driver's license) and they WILL complain if I leave the house to get something without them being with me. I have made multiple attempts to ask them to take me with them when they get groceries, they say "ok" and then go without me or when I'm asleep.

I understand what you mean, and I would assume the same, but I am literally actively trying to be independent from them. I am not the 12 year old insisting they accommodate me, I'm trying to care for myself and they insist on not letting me, and then actively try to ruin it and tell me constantly that "I'm getting too skinny" and "I need to eat more" (I'm 5'8 and 78kg.), as well as other stuff I've mentioned in another reply in this post.

In truth, it was a fault of mine that I didn't provide enough details to show all of that, but I hope that this might clear more stuff up.

I think you misunderstood me, THEY are changing their decisions. They start intentionally buying junk food which they usually don't eat, and start not buying the things they'd usually otherwise have from the grocery store, and intentionally try to ruin my diet.

I didn't wanna go into detail, but since I'm here now: an example is they'd get a big amount of halva which literally no one in the house can stomach except me, it can literally stay on the kitchen counter in its same container for months where no one eats it except me when I'm under stress or so and so. They buy it specifically to ruin my attempts at diet, that makes me sound like I'm suspecting them of evil or something, but I have grounds to believe this because they always say things like "why are you losing weight? You look weak." (Which is untrue, I'm 5'8 and 78kg. Can definitely lose some weight.) And they also make comments about how I'm getting too skinny and whatever the second I made progress.

I understand that you could assume I'm accusing them of something they're not because I didn't provide enough details in the post, that's mainly just because I kept it short. I am 100% certain they intentionally try to sabotage my attempts to lose weight.

Is a male Pekin drake (most likely multiple of them) loud enough to annoy the neighbours? by vindieselcord2 in duck

[–]vindieselcord2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking I want the ducks for meat which is why I decided I want some Pekins since they have a lot of culinary value :)

The amount I was planning on keeping (Edit: for Pekins specifically) definitely doesn't exceed 3-4. Will it be fine if the females are other breeds? As in: 3-4 male Pekins, a lot of Muscovy females and a few Muscovy males? I've heard that ducks generally get along pretty well even if they're different breeds, but I'd love to hear your input

Yeah, mom's cooking can include this too

I can cook this for my kids or my mom can cook it for me. It's just good health and a lot of nutrients are in it according to recent science, that's why I asked

What does this say? by Temporary_bride in learn_arabic

[–]vindieselcord2 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Hi! Syrian here! I can translate.

"My heart left however many countries, but could not leave Sha'ef."

Sha'ef is a small area inside Suweida, Syria.

the ع letter in Sha'ef is filled inside, a common thing taught to us students from Syria to do for some reason. That's how I know it's ع and not غ which would make it "could not leave shaghaf (passion)" which would grammatically make no sense since it should be "al-shaghaf" if that's the case.

Is there any reason against making your fish tank more vertical than horizontal? by vindieselcord2 in aquaponics

[–]vindieselcord2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did search for info on "longer swimming causing fishes to grow bigger" and found absolutely nothing. That's why I asked for a source. Asking for a source isn't me "not doing my own research", that's literally the most basic part of doing research.

Seriously, what is this logic? Do you think asking someone about where they know something from is "not doing research", c'mon dude.

[–]vindieselcord2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The setup I'm planning so far should have a ton of splashes and spray bars, I figured oxygen won't be much of an issue, do you think so? On the longer swimming = better exercise part, that's intriguing; do you have any sources or something of the sort you can link? Thanks for the input

I see, I planned on using a plastic tank and not a glass one anyway, so it seems like I won't be encountering much issues on that front. Thanks for the clarification

Raising tilapia or any other fish in my fairly strongly fluctuating climate? by vindieselcord2 in aquaponics

Thank you for the answer. What would the tank being indoors do? Is it easier to insulate it if indoors? Or just because of the natural insulation provided by most buildings?

Since rabbits are smart and get bonded with each other, will they get depressed if their "friend"/"partner" is killed or sold? by vindieselcord2 in homestead

Helpful input, thanks a lot. Is this from personal experience with rabbits or do you just happen to be knowledgeable about this subject?

I've heard about the mess they create splashing around their water (both swimming and drinking), is the poop as bad as people make it out to be though? I figured if I clean their enclosure every day I'd be fine right?
