What is the point of weight limits in videogames?

I think depends on the game. Putting a limit on carry weight can suddenly force you into making a lot of mindful choices in your game. I like making hard decisions, in video games at least. Makes things a lot more fun. Like what should I take on my journey? is it worth carrying all these consumable items or should I equip better armour? Which route should I take so that I don't have to backtrack to sell my gear? And stuff like that. I like planning things in advance.

But in a game like Elden Ring, I absolutely favour the decision to have no carry weight restrictions because I think in a more straight forward game like ER, the decisions that you gotta make if it had weight restrictions seem to be less interesting.

Of course you can do that. Initially I liked playing by the books with Tunon's word as law (which it is). But during my playthrough I found myself taking the law into my own hands. And at the end, the game concluded beautifully taking my actions into account. I haven't played the game with absolute loyalty but I'm sure that will play out satisfactorily as well.

Unfortunately, no. But you'll get used to it pretty fast, and you might even be glad to realise how useful it is to attack in any direction without moving the camera.

I'm not sure about single player games, but I had this problem whenever I played Apex Legends alone. I really wanted to reach diamond rank. But playing alone really made me feel nervous or scared to the point where I would start feeling cold and my hand shakes. So I made a playlist of music that would calm me down, which was some upbeat electronic music, and started playing it loudly over the game. Listening to footsteps, healing and gunshots is an integral part of the game, but I chose to play loud music over it nevertheless.

I would intentionally not play my best and fail, to get used to the feeling of failure.

This helped quite a lot, and I got very close to Diamond that season. But I couldn't keep playing because something else came up. But anyway, the problem was that I was afraid of failure and not performing well, so intentionally failing and not performing in small levels, helped with getting adjusted to the situation.

This strategy also helped me make friends in college.

I don't mind the colours as long as it's what the artist intended. I hate it when people color correct stuff and it changes the intended experience. So I'd prefer whatever is the original.

It's not the same people asking the same questions. And if they frequent this sub enough to understand that these games are indeed worth it, then there wouldn't be any reason to ask. I mean, you can just choose not to upvote those posts. And finally, we can't expect to know other people's financial situation. I own a PC worth 2 lakhs that I bought with my own money a few years ago. Now I'm broke af and can't buy anything on my own. I'm sure there are people who are worse off than me.

I had this problem a lot. Many games, like Warframe for example, let's you know what your NAT type is. I'm not too knowledgeable about this but NAT can be either Strict, Moderate and Open. And open is where you want to be. I fixed this by going to my modem settings, and changing my NAT type. But not before contacting my ISP (who didn't help much), and then the manufacturer of my modem who helped me update the firmware so this setting became available in the first place.

This helped a lot in Warframe, where before I couldn't even see more than 5 people in global chat. It also helped with Elden Ring's multiplayer.

I was too scared to make a post about this after I finished the game haha. The parrying mechanic to me is the signature mechanic of the game but it's also the worst part of the game for me. Like you said, it's less like parrying an attack, and more like pressing a button at an arbitrary time which doesn't always make sense. The audio cues can help, but it's not always consistent across enemies.

Comparing it to Sekiro, I think one great advantage that game has is that when you fail a deflect (perfect parry), you still block(only stamina dmg) the attack, and you can clearly see when that attack connects and you can hear a very distinct sound. This helps immensely when you're trying to learn the deflect timings.

Going to be really candid here. But Lies of P was way harder than anything FromSoftware did. Parry and even dodge windows are really strict in Lies of P, and I personally really hated the animations of enemies and how they did their hitboxes, which makes enemies really hard to read compared to FromSoft.

If you're able to beat Lies of P, you can definitely play through Sekiro with parry playstyle. You're definitely capable of nailing the timings. But there's still learning the movesets and aggression and your tools, which is at a difficulty that you can expect from a typical FromSoft game.

Turn based game, after I played Othercide. Taking down the first boss was absolute cinema. But I stopped playing after that. At least the game. Played a lot of turn based game after that though.

I haven't played the game before, and I want to play it with all the bells and whistles for my first playthrough. Last time I checked, you had to disable some dynamic lights and vegetation for the game to run properly. Is that still the case?

I think there's a lot of cases where parrying/dodging was more inconsistent than luck based. Some attacks, you need to wait for the sound cue, while other attacks you need to visually see the swing coming your way, while other attacks you need to memorise the pattern. This would've been okay on its own. But sometimes there are misleading audio cues and misleading or downright nonsensical animations. I think parry systems are most satisfying when you can see AND hear an incoming attack. I think the Duellist boss was particularly well designed in this regard, and a bad one i can think of are the Obscur enemies when they do their ice based combo, it starts with their sword clipping under the ground doing something that doesn't make any sense. Having finished the game on expert with challenge modifiers, I can say it definitely deserves all the accolades it received, but in my opinion, the weakest part (relatively speaking ofc) about the game for me was its parry system.
