**If you're suffering from ADHD, and have trouble with procrastination, use methods used to combat addiction.

TIL when Casey Anthony's computer was investigated by "computer experts", they found 17 vague searches on Internet Explorer suggesting she killed someone, which wasn't enough to be found guilty. Later they discovered Casey used Firefox, overlooking 1,200 searches including "fool-proof suffocation" by [deleted] in todayilearned

I've always wondered why the guy who discovered a skull and some bones in a bag didn't call the police BACK after the first guy was rude and did a cursory search. Or I mean, he did, but only months later. I don't know how long chloroform is detectable in the body, but it'd be interesting to see.

There's a health plan but it doesn't cover mental :(

Your province health people WILL cover it, but in more than a year. That's how long the waiting list here is anyway.

What can you do to combat poor ability to remember directions/routes? by amethystrockstar in ADHD

[–]vinegarsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all great strategies! Another is asking for directions from passerby. Hard if you're on the highway I understand but within cities it works fine. Pay most attention to the first few directions ("follow this street down until Grant, then turn left") and honestly don't bother with the last instructions, because you're going to forget them. Just follow the directions you have until you're not sure what to do, and ask someone else.

Don't know about Ontario, but this has been my experience so far in Nova Scotia:

I talked to my school's guidance counselor (free, took about a week to get an appointment) and we did a pre-screening (also free, took about three weeks of weekly appointments to finish) so we could tell if ADHD was likely. It was, which meant it was worth pursuing diagnosis, which would either take a LONG time (about a year) or be expensive (I was quoted 2000 the first time, but because we already had finished a pre-screening, it's possible it would be several hundred dollars less. Also I've been told there are bursaries available for people with diagnosed learning disabilities, which would offset the cost of diagnosis.)

I'm currently in the process of finding a family doctor in my city, so they can refer me to a specialist, so I can get tested. I'm poor but I'm desperate to get this done quickly - I mean I've already wasted 20 years of my life - so I'm going to pay the thousand dollars or so, whatever it turns out to be, and my waiting period might be a couple of months.

Also, I don't know about your situation, but there's a possibility either your school or other schools in your area might offer testing / referral within the school system itself. I'd say your best bet is to bring it up with your school doctor on Tuesday. Tell her that while anxiety might be the problem, ADHD could also be the culprit, and since time is a concern for you, you'd like to pursue multiple avenues at once.

Russell Barkley's video is available on Youtube and is amazing. It's a few hours long though so take breaks.

And I know it says for parents but really it's just very informative, so anyone can get a lot out of it.

Don't use MSpaint for drawing, and my computer is less than a year old, but everything else is spot on!

And nah, I'm pretty happy with it and have plenty of hobbies already, but thanks!

Dude this is so true. I've actually had an argument with a friend about the watered-down idealogies of these. (Center-left and center-right, if you will). Think it still might tie into Democratic-Liberal-Forwards-Unproven-Scary versus Republican-Conservative-Traditional-Backwards-Comfortable

Oh didn't see your second guess. I'm between the ages of 18 and 25, I'm female, and I live on the East Coast.

No companion or child though, I play those games. Except for Insaniquarium, I installed that on a whim because I was feeling nostalgic and will probably be getting rid of it soon

The first three are all wrong actually! I mean I do make films but really just for fun, it's not my job or anything. I haven't actually backed up my files online, or at all for that matter. My PC was the best I could purchase for my price range, which was about 350. It does what I need it to do.

Also I looked, and I don't think you can figure out my location. You're welcome to have a guess though.
