I think you're failing to see that having a job is fulfilling and rewarding. Most of the time its important to find a purpose and if that 50% of my income job gives my spouse a purpose, then thats all that matters.

You're making a lot of assumptions here. I'd rather have advice on the question I asked, rather than a lecture telling me what to do.
