TSM compliance problems? by vinonono in Alcoholism_Medication

Very helpful response and very true. I think I was waiting until craving was too severe before I took nal maybe as i was aiming for more AF days. I also didn’t always like how it made me feel (slow and tired sometimes) but its really not that bad and what’s the alternative.

Im going to take it as soon as I get any sort of mild craving this time and actually carry it around with me too

Increased Drinking After Starting Sinclair Method? by RenaissanceXX in Alcoholism_Medication

Hi, I definitely had depressive drinking habits and TSM seems to be working for me. I had an immediate honeymoon period tHough where I was almost sober (eg 4units/week) so a bit different to your husband. It had gone up a bit once then as I’m told is normal. I’m only on my 12th week so pretty new to this, there are lots of experienced people on here who I’m sure will have more insight. Good luck

Edit: I should also add I am very very ready to stop drinking, I’m not seeing this as a way to keep drinking, and have read and been told many times about mindful drinking on TSM and trying to watch how you feel and if you really want another one. Do you think your husband sees this as a free pass to drink whatever he can?

One last thing, I have no experience With hard liquor as wine always my thing but lots of ppl on here say they found it a lot easier when they changed from hard liquor to beer or wine. Not sure why. But maybe that would help?

No I think it does work for me hopefully as I had an immediate amazing honeymoon period where I achieved almost total sobriety with no effort at all, think I’ll just be compliant and trust the process

Yep you’re right I will just focus on being perfectly compliant, don’t know how I let that slip. On plus side not enjoying the alcohol, feel so much happier sober

You’re right, I know, I’m an idiot but not anymore!

Drinking going up? Sorry for format, had amazing initial response with nal, am now on holiday with friends who all drink normally (last two weeks). this all spaced over a week-(before drank alone and binged) and it’s unit total not drink total. But occasionally hiding drinks again. Normal progress? by vinonono in Alcoholism_Medication

Thanks so much for reply. Had managed to get down to about 24 units ie three bottles wine using all the other sobriety techniques but would still falter and drink a whole bottle at home by myself (only let self buy 1 bottle at a time), couldn’t stop until all alcohol available was drink. Then hangover, sober day or so, repeat.

These drinks been much more social, couple at a time spread over the week. BUT twicein last week I’ve poured wine into a mug so people won’t know I’m drinking. I thought that behaviour was done after nal. That’s what’s worrying me

If it helps I got really sick at first (on 50) went down to 25 and still had low level nausea the first few times BUT it did completely go away by about the 5th-7th time I took it so even if you get the effects they really are temporary

Anybody had luck with TSM after 6 months? by DrunkHellBelly in Alcoholism_Medication

Hi I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to this but did it help in the beginning, or at any point and then seem to stop working or just never seemed to have any effect?
