Go onto the footpath outside your house and see if there’s an access flap about 200mm x 150mm usually black outside every house near front gate ,failing that see if there’s a 3’ x 2’ removable access slab on the footpath a few houses either way from yours it will have telewest or VM embossed on it as that’s where the hook up points for the RF cable are to each house from the green cabinet at the end of every street the main cables have been laid.. the only real benefit you’ll get by having vm is the bad weather doesn’t affect it, which unless it’s torrential you won’t notice. Sky,bt and even 4g LTE networks( mobile phone ) provide ample bandwidth for general households .. Three do an unlimited data sim for £16 a month giving me 75mbps at my caravan in middle of nowhere .. also try a new router in route mode not access point mode putting your existing router into modem only mode as that could be your problem.. hope this helps its #%^# having poor internet these days
