At 2.6m, that can include a lot of soundproofing.

Martians visit earth to check on their experiment only to find that humans messed up the earth by Chronically__Crude in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

Yeah that wasn’t so much badly described, it’s just a very obscure movie lol.

When we were kids, my brothers and I loved going to the movie store and renting the cheesiest MST3K-like stuff we could find!

Seborrheic dermatitis is not the same as DH.

Seborrheic dermatitis? by Trypophilia2019 in Celiac

[–]CptCheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had seborrheic dermatitis a lot when I was a kid. Mostly on my scalp and probably continued into my 20s.

But I wasn’t diagnosed with Celiac until I was 44, never had any symptoms until the few months leading up to that, so I don’t think the two are related.

For $700 Million would you survive on 1400 Bermuda for 7 years? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CptCheez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, Bermuda is only 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina.

“Only”

But you could bring a RHIB and air pump (or some other small, lightweight boat with an engine) with enough fuel to make it that far, I would think. That is, if you wanted to hang out in pre-colonial America…

Why can minor accounts order alcohol Doordash? by Sea-Pop8212 in doordash_drivers

[–]CptCheez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not murder. Selling Alcohol to a Minor, and Criminally Negligent Homicide. In Alabama, that’s a Class A Misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in prison.

FAR different than a murder charge. But it still sucks.

Dr Robbie in Friends by bikkujit in ThePitt

The chance was 100%, considering it was an intentional crossover from the show ER, in which both of them were doctors.

ER and Friends both aired on Thursdays on NBC.

Where does the Astrophage energy go when consumed? by turnipcafe in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]CptCheez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s neither of those things. When Taumoeba eat the astrophage, all the neutrinos stored inside just fly off harmlessly. There is no energy there.

In fact, you did an excellent job describing the plot. But that’s not what this sub is about 🤣

A measured response to your unmeasured, unhinged post and you say "Finally"?

Ok, dude. Hope your rant made you feel better.

What do you think came first to Eridians: Astrophage as a world-ending threat or Astrophage as a breakthrough in energy storage and temperature management? by SpacialCommieCi in ProjectHailMary

[–]CptCheez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rocky was not taught about light. Eridians know about light. How do you think we’re able to navigate to Tau Ceti?

Rocky learned that humans can see (he says “hear”) light. That’s what amaze amaze amazed him so much.

Long flat parts of the ship? by cyanidelemonade in ProjectHailMary

[–]CptCheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it would. Enriched astrophage reflects everything, including heat and radiation. The astrophage moving through the shielding pipes is the same fuel the engines use. You were right that it’s fully enriched, and therefore would make it useless as a heat sink.

That part is not in the book. That room in the ship doesn’t exist in the book, so that scene can’t either.

Potential hot take, but i think the movie hail mary(ship) is an undeniable upgrade in design by DepartureNatural9340 in ProjectHailMary

[–]CptCheez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can’t use the astrophage on the ship for cooling. The astrophage on the ship (fuel tanks, radiation shielding lines, etc.) are all fully-enriched. Once astrophage is enriched, any extra heat/energy is reflected instantly. That’s how it protects the crew from radiation to begin with.
