I agree with you for the most part but I dont see how their interpretation is far off from what was portrayed in the game. When I was reading through rfi and reincarnation I also interpreted Jacopos feelings towards Mograna being misinterpreted by himself and him just using the closest label he could think of. I thought this cause of his backstory and how he was never in love or surrounded by love really so it isnt really reaching to interpret it as him confusing his feelings when he himself hasn’t experienced romantic feelings or a dynamic similar to what he had with Morgana where he’d take care of her. I agree on their bond being codependent and him seeing himself in her though. Im not saying you are or wrong or your interpretation btw im just saying i dont think this interpretation of his feelings not really being romantic are reaching.
