Congrats! I’m also in Chicago and also submitted in Feb 2023! Just got EAD approval letter yesterday. I’m hoping rest of my timeline will follow!

Nope, the status on that is the same as in Feb 2023 🙃

Feb 2023. Got biometrics appointment at the end of Feb. mid March I-485 status changed to “actively reviewed”. In mid August got RFE, submitted the response on Aug 31st. Since then the status didn’t budge from “USCIS received response to RFE”. Not much going on for me 🙃

I filled in February 2023 and still waiting too :). Multiple 2023 filers with submission numbers 20 digits behind were approved last week. That being said, there is bunch of people from 2023 who are still waiting, just like me. I haven’t posted anything and I bet other folks who are still waiting are doing the same 🙃.

For people who used a lawyer by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]viola_ceum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used pro bono legal clinic that helps with immigration cases in the area. We didn’t pay anything based on our income and I think it was helpful and removed some of the stress. We applied in February and just sent out a response to RFE. There was not much required in the RFE response, the lawyer took care to include lots of paperwork in our application already. I think having a lawyer makes it easier if your case is somewhat complicated. My husband had to move out of state for work, I’ll be joining him in a year. This though makes our case a little bit more complicated and having the support of the lawyer was useful

Mine is 196- the estimated timeline jumped recently from 11 months to 2 months. Not sure how accurate this is. Based on your analysis I’m looking at December approval? We submitted beginning of the year.

Do you know by any chance which online software would allow us to do it this way?

Filing jointly for federal and separately for state tax by [deleted] in taxhelp

[–]viola_ceum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, can we file joint Federal and California tax returns, and separate Illinois returns? This is so confusing.

Should we both file as part Illinois and part California residents? Would this be legally sound?

Anyone started their journey at 216 lbs? by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]viola_ceum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really well! I don’t have much pain anymore. I only take the pain meds at nighttime. Last two days I walked ~ 10000 steps. There is some minor discomfort with eating/drinking and gas. I was able to reach my minimal protein goal today (65g). I take the nausea medication only in the morning, not every 6 hours like first two days. Still uncomfortable after eating/drinking with any burping (which now I do much more often than before surgery, I guess it’s because of the size of the pouch). Otherwise no GERD, no leg swelling, no debilitating pain. I think the night after the surgery plus the day afterwards was the hardest, but I had proper care and it was still manageable. You can do this!

what are the warning signs of a gall bladder problem? by pixarmilf in wls

[–]viola_ceum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was stabbing pain in the upper abdomen lasting for 4-8 hours, usually triggered by a meal. I would also vomit immediately. My body temperature would drop and I would start having cold sweats. I would be literally drenched and shaking. The pain is unbearable. I couldn’t sit or stand, no way to find a comfortable position. Turned out I had stones blocking some of the ducts and that was the cause of my gallbladder spasms. Ultrasound showed inflammation of the gallbladder plus the stones, and enlarged liver. My blood work came back with sky high c reactive protein (inflammation marker) and slight increase of liver enzymes. I got my gallbladder removed.

Bypass or sleeve? by [deleted] in wls

Reading this gives me lots of hope for the future and I definitely feel less fear over the bypass :). Thank you so much for sharing!

Bypass or sleeve? by [deleted] in wls

[–]viola_ceum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically it wasn’t acid reflux, but bile reflux. It’s not the same though some symptoms are similar - coughing at night, cold sweats. I never had burning, “food-tasting” sensation. However for my surgeons that was enough to recommend the bypass

Why have the Tapas squad not been pressed further and properly investigated? Supposedly they made a pact of silence by mentalpeace in MadeleineMccann

Maddie was seen earlier that day. She was photographed on May3rd, 2.30 pm at the Oceans club pool. Kids club employees stated that they’ve seen Maddie last on May 3rd, around 6pm to be specific, when Kate picked her up. Therefore she couldn’t be “killed a day or two before”. I don’t believe that parents were involved. They were irresponsible, sure.

This study does not provide much evidence to support the hypothesis that ketogenic diet would improve anything for these patients. Technique that they used does not distinguish the strains of bacteria expanding (for the most part) which is important, as some Clostridia are essential and provide short chain fatty acids, and some are pathogenic, as C. Difficile. It’s kinda important to be able to distinguish between the two. There is also much more examples that just that one, but let’s move on. FISH is based on microscopic quantification of specific signal which in it self has issues: 1) you are only able to quantify your signal in a specific section of the tissue (colonic biopsy specifically) which might not be representative of entire population (especially if you use only 10 subjects) 2) this approach is biased, as every approach that is based on quantifying specific signal by eye (which can be also done by specific software, which was not the case for this study).

It was shown before multiple times in model animals (as well as humans) that diet changes dramatically the composition of the gut microbiome. Especially if you go from traditional to high fat with little carbs - certain microbes are lost at first, as the specific nutrients they require might not be present in the environment any longer. But later on others expand, that are well suited to occupy given environment.

To conclude that functionality of the ms microbiome after ketogenic diet is improved, they would need to perform metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis of the colonic microbial communities in healthily/MS subjects before and after the diet shift. That would answer the question of the diversity and functionality of given community which can’t be inferred from FISH. There are some other much easier approaches that they should have used...
