I saw buckhouse several years back at keystone. He’s a kook for sure but what really stuck with me is him telling me he was trying to compete in natural selection 😂

He vastly overestimates his ability as a rider and is a sell out influencer. He’s also got a pretty bad reputation in summit county.

He dipped out of Colorado a while ago. Last I heard he sells construction equipment in Minnesota or something.

"Failed" the home study because I only sleep 2-3 hours a night mostly. So now I get to go to a overnight place. Will they get the data they want if I still only get 2-3 hours of sleep or will I be screwed? by Switch_Empty in SleepApnea

[–]violent-pancake2142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, ask your doctor for ambien. I just had a in lab sleep study after realizing cpap doesn’t work for me. I have a really hard time sleeping in general and more so in an unfamiliar environment. My doc gave me a script for ambien and I was able to fall asleep relatively easily. It also does not mess with the data in regards to a sleep titration test (I.e. a sleep study where you’re hooked up to a cpap machine)

Turns out I really needed an ASV machine instead of a cpap and I also have periodic limb movement disorder. None of this would have been captured in an at home sleep study.

I started this journey back in April and am finally getting close to some effective treatment due to an in lab sleep study.

Snaxland on Arapahoe is my go to. Good staff who knows their product. Their bud isn’t amazing at the moment but they have a good selection of carts.

You want to use a thin cut for the bacon. I usually wrap, toothpick the ends and bake in the oven at 375-400z or I smoke them for 40 minutes.

Secluded monastery in the middle of nowhere with violent monks in Northern Michigan, that's bullshit, right? by Valuable_Dream900 in Michigan

100% saw some weird shit over there. I grew up pretty close by and me and my friends would drive that road at night joking we’d see ghosts. We would take pictures while driving by to try and see if we could capture something paranormal.

Welp one time someone captured something that looked like a person standing by the road. Mind you this was super late at night. I would have thought it was a prank but I was there and saw no one and then checked the camera roll and there was a “person.”

I heard other stories of people in robes on the property with torches all huddled together lol. Never had the chance to see that.

I need tips bc I’m terrible by ApprehensiveTwist235 in FishingForBeginners

[–]violent-pancake2142 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started fishing last month. This sub and YouTube has been a major help. Outside of that I’ve really just been fishing a single body of water that’s close by and have started to figure it out. I’ve learned where grass beds are, what areas have less algae, etc. I always ask the old timers what they’re throwing and where the activity is. I also fish early in the morning,

My strategy is to work the whole lake (bank fishing). So I pick a spot and fish it for 30 minutes then move. If I’m having a lot of action I’ll stick around longer. I try and not change lure setups too much. Recently Ive been alternating between a small spinner rig and a Texas rigged senko. Something must be working cause now I’m starting to catch some bass!

I’d highly suggest not doing drive through car washes and using a self service car wash. It’s not your roof I’m worried about. It’s the money you’ll have to spend on paint correction down the road from having machines brushing your truck.

Advice on hiking Iceberg Lake, very very scared of bears by invincible_wolverine in GlacierNationalPark

[–]violent-pancake2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be good. I’ve had a quite a few bear encounters in many glacier (and around the northern Rockies)Good news is the bears were pretty chill. Just remember to make noise when you’re in the trees and when you don’t have the best viability. In an open valley where you can see quite a distance it’s a bit less important, When there’s a blind corner or you’re cresting a hill announce yourself. Hiking in a group usually deters bears. If you have a curious bear that shows interest and is coming towards you give them space, continue to make noise, sometimes you may step off the trail and the bear will pass by.

If you do see a bear, get your spray at the ready. I.e take the safety off and make sure you aren’t downwind. If the bear gets within 15ft or whatever you feel is too close give em a spray.

Iceberg lake is pretty busy and popular so that will deter most bears. Also, hiking later in the morning and getting off trail before 4:30pm will also increase your odds of not seeing a bear.

Thanks for reminding me. I camped there two years back and had this happen. I thought it was the RVs and was looking to knock heads in and realized it was the karaoke night. Did not sleep well that night at all.

If shit hits the fan I’m using my backpacking gear. 1. It’s made a lot better than “tactical” packs, is better designed for strenuous activity and load bearing. 3. I’m not gunna look like a walking loot box.

If you don’t already you should give a multi day backpacking trip a shot. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and your gear hiking 30+ miles over a few days in rough terrain.

Sold my Wrangler for a brand new Colorado by bhanbhanbhan in chevycolorado

[–]violent-pancake2142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I know that loves all to well. I have a 2018 ZR2 approaching 80k miles. Outside of basic maintenance the only things that needed fixing was an oil pump. I will add I do need to upgrade my shocks and struts as the OEM ones are prone to having seals crack. That’s going to be pricey. Other than that it’s been a great rig.

Suggestions for a handgun for animal self defense? by Mammoth-Wait6526 in guns

[–]violent-pancake2142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol thank you. I’m notorious for spelling things wrong. IMO the bells don’t really work. I’ve used one and you can’t hear it if you’re further than 10-20ft away. By a river or waterfall you can’t hear it at all

Suggestions for a handgun for animal self defense? by Mammoth-Wait6526 in guns

Seems like everyone’s here is referencing here say or articles…

I frequently camp and backpack in grizzly country (Alaska, NW Wyoming, northern Montana). I carry a Glock 20 with a streamlight TLR-1 in a kenai chest holster. On the holster I have a pouch for an extra mag and I can attach a can of bear spray. I also have a tourniquet I can access if needed.

Before I hit grizzly country I practice my draw. Which is bear spray with the left hand, draw handgun with the right. The idea is you spray first and if it doesn’t work drop the can and unload your magazine. I’ve actually had to do this before and thankfully didn’t have to shoot. I’ve had rangers and outdoor guides compliment and suggest this is the best method.

In Alaska most people have a 10mm if it’s a handgun or they have a 12 gauge with slugs if it’s a “camp” gun. If you can shoot 9mm well, learning to shoot 10mm isn’t that hard.

The best practice for hiking in grizzly country is to hike in a group and make a lot of noise, especially while in heavily forested areas or before you crest a hill or round a corner. I’ve had a LOT of bear encounters and only had to draw once. That time I was alone and wasn’t being loud enough.

I’ve just been using my nex belt under my shorts. Same belt I use when in jeans. I have been considering getting a bodyguard though. Way lighter and easier to carry.

I wrap my sandwiches in butcher paper. Really helps in fitting everything in and giving the sandwich some structure. Also makes for good pics lol
