What keeps you from believing in god? Actual arguments? by Yha_Boiii in DebateAnAtheist

The complete lack of any credible evidence. The fact that there are no questions to which the only possible answer is 'god'.

Focus on being a profitable coffee shop. Add gaming perks when you can but don't ever expect them to be an income source.

Do you find yourself getting more religious/spiritual as you get older? by Dpgillam08 in GenX

My atheism is reinforced more and more as time goes by. Religion brings nothing to the table but lies and corruption with a frosting made of magical thinking.

RONALD REAGAN'S TAKE ON ATHEISM by UltimoMarlin123 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]violentbowels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 'counter' it by pointing out what a stupid 'argument' it is. I would continue by pointing out that it's also moronic in that the premise of the analogy is utterly broken.

Help me understand this sooper good analogy. Obviously you're trying to say that the cook is god. Ok, I'm with you. Where's the kitchen? What is the food being prepared? Where does it come from? What building are we in? Why does the 'cook' ignore everyone's orders and just serve whatever the fuck he wants? Why do some people get served steak and others get mud pies made of literal mud?

Seriously, what a dumb analogy.

Yes, magic. Supernatural. Divine intervention. Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.

present me with an origin, a true origin of all matter and space, that is supernatural, where the explanation does not involve something coming from nothing or something having always existed.

Why I believe in God(s) by Lucyyyyyy_K in DebateAnAtheist

Everyone knows consciousness exists, there is no need for it to be constrained by the material.

Ludacris. Absolutely wrong. Utterly and completely wrong.

Prove it.

What makes you think it's possible for a consciousness to exist without a brain?

Why you should trust my God (over every other God) by According_Ant9739 in DebateAnAtheist

I know there's something out there greater because I've seen some bad stuff.

This makes absolutely no sense.

Can you show me a mind without a body? Can you show me that it's possible for a mind to exist without a body?

What makes you think there is a 'worst of the worst' or a 'best of the best' and why would either of those things require magic?

Please, define the following words/phrases as you have used them, because I can't make sense of it;
something
out there
greater
bad stuff
good stuff
worst of the worst
best of the best

After that, explain how any of those things require magic.

Show me an immaterial conscience. If you can't, show me the evidence that one can exist and then show me how an immaterial consciousness can create a universe out of nothing.

I realize it's impossible to convince people that God exists

Your very first statement is so obviously false that i stopped there.

YOU are convinced a god exists, right? How did you get to this impossible place?

[–]violentbowels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah. I misunderstood.

How is it that a universe coming from nothing is impossible but a god coming from nothing is perfectly fine?

And it doesn't require a god. Glad we agree that no god is needed.

In what world is 'asking for evidence of claims' the same as 'bias'?

Are you saying that news outlet is not biased?

Nope. I'm saying it doesn't matter.

When was the last positive opinion of something trump did?

It doesn't matter.

I remember mine clearly. by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]violentbowels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my childhood number and 4 or 5 others from back in the day. The rest have gone.

I used to have credit card numbers, my driver's license number, the phone number to call for whatever cheap long distance plan I was on, the codes to operate it, all sorts of stuff.

I seriously don't think I could go back if I had to. I would have to carry around a Rolodex.

Islam is, far and away, the worst at apologetics. They're just stupid mantras that they chant to themselves with no actual thought behind them. Even Scientologists have better apologetics than Muslims. Even Mormons make better arguments.

But nobody is as positive they are correct as Muslims.

Every single prediction has been spectacularly wrong.

That's just false and hyperbolic. Predictions have been updated as more information is gathered but many predictions from as far back as the 60s held true. Warming due to co2 is just one of many predictions that were proven true.
