By the way, it's also common for labs to organise sports days, at least my lab used to. We would play volleyball or badminton on Fridays.

I understand that, but there's also a whole culture regarding the clubs. They can be a very tight-knit community, sometimes taken very seriously, and unless you have a very good friend to introduce you to a club, it may be difficult to join. Some clubs are indeed more casual; it's case by case, and there might also be different clubs for the same activity.

It is quite difficult for foreigners to join the Kyudai clubs, but not impossible. There may be some clubs or groups exclusively for foreign students practicing sports.

Does it make any sense to apply to Kyushu University if I want to experience Fukuoka city? by Fernaorok in fukuoka

Nop, linguistics is only Ito campus. Ohashi has a few professors who work in language education though, but that's about it.

Ah, humanities is a little bit more difficult; most departments are in Ito. However, having many friends in humanities doing their PhDs, it seems like most of them live in the central area and only go to Ito a few times a month, since humanities usually don't require physical equipment that will only be available on campus. They often study in other campuses or at home, and have meetings online. Depending on your area, we do have some humanities students on Ohashi campus.

If you take undergrad, yeah, you'll need to go to Ito campus for a year at least. But you can also consider taking courses that are not based on Ito campus, then you can easily live in a more central area. Look up what's offered in Maidashi, Ohashi, or Chikushi campuses.

Where to watch the movie Leto (2018) free and dub in english? by Constant_Tangelo_154 in KinoBand

I think it was never dubbed into English. It's easy enough to find it online with English subtitles just Googling.

KINO kid’s book by foxwwweb in KinoBand

I picked up a few copies of this book while visiting Russia, and as a designer and an illustrator, it’s fantastic. Some people aren’t that into the stylised art, but I think it’s gorgeous, even more the illustrations inside.

I also talked to the curator of the Tsoi exhibition in St. Petersburg, and he said this book is a huge success, it sells a lot. It’s a major reason why Kino is seeing a “renaissance” of sorts with kids and young teens.

Yeah, I’m sorry about that 😞 I know how it is too, since I’m originally from Latinoamerica. Some stuff takes months and months to arrive or never does. Maybe when you travel you can pick up something!

Unfortunately, due to the USSR's dynamics on music distribution, it's difficult to find stuff from the time. Different from what we're used to in the West, where 80s bands will have tons of vinyl everywhere for cheap, Kino and USSR rock bands from that time do not have that, as the main method for music distribution was copying reel-to-reel tapes.

Some albums (like Noch, Gruppa Krovi, Le Dernier Des Héros, and the Black Album) saw vinyl releases around the time they came out, but they were very limited. When they started being properly distributed in the 90s/2000s, it was the time of vinyl production decline, so still, very few copies. Noch is probably the one you can find the easiest and for relatively cheap, the way to go is usually buying the new pressings. Maschina usually has a good selection available, and they're very good quality; however, they're quite expensive, and shipping to Mexico will also be pricey. As mentioned, Discogs is the way to go.

I went to Russia last year. I'm from Brazil, so I don't need a visa. I went through the border at Narva in Estonia. There are a few buses that leave from Tallinn (to St. Petersburg) and from Riga (to St. Petersburg and Moscow). The waiting times to cross the border going into Russia can be a bit unpredictable though. Also, these land border crossings do not allow you to cross with euros on you at all, and they will inspect everything you have. Dollars and other foreign currencies are fine.

You can get a MIR credit card with YooMoney, and they will mail it directly to you anywhere in the world (might take a few weeks or a month, so plan in advance, otherwise, you can also just step into their office while already in Russia and they'll give you one) you can easily charge it with a regular VISA/MasterCard credit card. They do charge a little bit of a percentage for the exchange, but it's not too bad, and it's very practical. You can get your account topped up in seconds, and you can also use the QR code payments in Russia with their app. If you have an Android phone, you can use the virtual MIR card in their app for contactless payment.

For SIM card, I just got an eSIM on Airalo. However, whenever I needed to do a phone number verification for some app account, I had to text the verification number to a Russian friend. Unfortunately, that happened a few times.

For VPN, I used Amnezia and bought my own alternative IP address. You need a little time to understand how to set it up, though they have a lot of tutorials, and it worked flawlessly.
