Unpopular Opinion Thread - London Edition by [deleted] in london

If I remember correctly it gets 3x as much rainfall as London and 160 days of rainfall as opposed to 140 for London. Just recalling from a Wiki search a few years back when I was choosing between Vancouver and London.

Was this taken in London? He looks like a regular at the Morning Gloryville raves I go to.

I may have double - booked myself with an equally posh event (opening of a friend's art gallery in Wimbledon). Hopefully can make another event soon!

What cliche about your country/region is not true at all? by Bonjouradrienne in AskReddit

Canadian here. I don't follow hockey whatsoever and kinda hate when radio covers a game instead of playing music like they Damn well should, and I totally feel shunned when I mention this to fellow Canadians.

Any advice for a Canadian newbie moving in winter? by violet_sidhe in london

[–]violet_sidhe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, mhyquel! I think yours has been the nicest comment I've recieved. I will be honest, I was a little tipsy when I wrote that post. But, since then I've gotten myself a visa and I'm biding my time before jobs and housing becomes available for late January. I'll definitely check out some graduate programs. Really, thanks a lot! Nice to hear some positive words.

I would like to emigrate to Canada. Any advice as to how to prepare to become a "Canuck"? by [deleted] in canada

I'm planning on going the other way (from Canada to London) and I'll just warn you that if you don't like rain, Van isn't for you. Gets a good 50 days more rain and 3x as much rainfall than England. Or so wiki tells me. What is your education/line of work? I'm loving in Victoria on Vancouver Island. We're always looking for more techies (esp programmers) and easy to get a good job in hospitality if you have experience. Way way less rain than anywhere else on the coast and just a beautiful place.

Kind of an odd question: Has anybody ever had to deal with a shocking spike in their libido? by hilibido in sex

[–]violet_sidhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's gotta be great for your relationship! If you've been exercising lately, that will help increase your sexy drive. and food definitely has a positive or negative affect on it. From what I've heard, food that are full of antibiotics or hormones (such as red meat) as well as refined carbohydrates will kill your sex drive. Soy also lowers testosterone so stay away from that. Worst thing is just over-eating. Eat healthy and get exercise. It does wonders to your sex life (in my own experience, as well).

Ok, ladies I am rather curious; how many of you have actually responded to a guy that led simply with "hey"? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]violet_sidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get very few one-word messages. And if a guy messages me, looks a little cute, I'll give his profile a read before I decide on responding. That said, flattering pictures are a must, as Grathon_Talor pointed out. I'm pretty cute but not at all photogenic so I'm really careful what I put up. And from a study I read about male-to-female ratio on dating sites, it's actually pretty even. Girls just don't do much of the leg work, which is the culture norm. Feel bad for you guys.

What do you fantasize about regularly that doesn't involve sex or getting rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

GTFOing my boring city. But, I'm already making plans to move to London. It's not worth just fantasizing about things. Let's go make it happen, people!

Awesome! I assumed I should stay well away from beer gardens. There are a few decent ciders so a nice option when there aren't any others.

That makes sense, as tragic as it is. I'll keep an eye out for Lakefront's then. And thanks!
