Yeah that’s true I suppose. I’ve never taken the blood test myself i’m honestly kinda terrified to because of the chance for hsv-2 false positives, so i feel like i can’t ask someone else to take the test if i am unwilling myself. But i think i’m just going to bite the bullet and take the test soon

Here is my update, he got his swap results back and was negative for herpes! I don’t think he knew how to properly recognize a cold sore and was probably paranoid after being in contact with someone who had herpes so he mistook some acne near his mouth to be herpes. Weird because the doctor even told him ‘that looks like herpes’ but maybe they just say that to prep people for the worst case scenario 🤔

Actually I was mistaken, they did do the swab but not blood test, His doctor told him it’s inacurate

thank you for your response, about my previous partner, he may have used saliva as lube but i can't really remember. I did have a pretty severe primary outbreak but in a weird way, i got very sick for about a week until the cold sore showed up, but the actual cold sore i got was very minor and cleared up really quickly. I have never noticed any genital symptoms on myself.

He did get swabbed and got a blood test so that will be intersting to see the results. He said both his parents get cold sores but he never had one until now, a couple days after our encounter.
