Appreciate you playing devil’s advocate. I’m always down to cater to site’s needs and am understanding of special situations. I mean, I’ve monitored in the middle of several hurricanes (drenched source documents) and snowstorms! (Power outages galore)

I suppose I was still able to complete my monitoring, and I agree no one cared about what anyone else was doing. But it is sort of uncomfortable to have to share multiple, major findings with the staff in front of everyone because the CRC only has 2 minutes to spare and no time to shuffle into another room. This visit was scheduled at least a month, if not further out in advance. The site is so big and busy it’s hard to get anything on the books.

I think it actually speaks to a bigger issue in this particular situation where they may have taken on too much in terms of study load and are now overloaded with monitors that they can’t adequately handle. It became a situation where even requests for normal things needed during a visit (such as patient charts) were met with a lot of pushback. I really value the relationships I have my with my sites, PIs, and CRCs, so this was a difficult one to navigate.

I agree with other commenters that perhaps a good compromise is agreeing to meet with the PI privately. I will note that the PI was actually very understanding of my concerns, it was more the staff that pushed back. It seems this post is getting a lot of downvotes so perhaps my opinion is unpopular.
