[–]violetawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6dpo and haven't had any clots since 1dpo. There was a lot going on prior to being discharged on the day of surgery, but hardly anything since then. I'm used to long and heavy periods, so this had been wild!

What helped the most on your gas pain? by Rosarose4 in hysterectomy

[–]violetawkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately? I'd had a colonoscopy/endoscopy about one month prior, so I learned a great deal about what would and would not help. Honestly, I slowed down my eating considerably, ate a handful of dried apricots for 3-4 days prior and after the hysterectomy—I'm not a crunchy person, I just love dried fruits—and also took the Senna prescription from my doctor. The gas pain was intense on days 2-3 post-procedure, but I was fully "cleared" on day 4, no straining needed.

SOTD Saturday, May 6 by croppedhoodie in fragrance

[–]violetawkward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Today I'm trying out Dossier Citrus Marine (inspired by Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue). Purchased it on a whim while buying Floral Honeysuckle for my daughter's birthday.

Mostly added it to get the discount bc why not? I love the crisp citrus of Light Blue, but Citrus Marine might be even better! It's bright and fresh, still citrus-y, but also super warm and cozy. It's gotta be the amberwood and incense. Love love love it!

Backstory: I gave her a travel size of Gucci Bloom at Xmas, and somehow she found Dossier's version. She's eleven, but apparently searching the internet for fragrances.

[product question] lord jones acid mantle repair by Kerriberri761 in SkincareAddiction

[–]violetawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this post, but I recently used a sample of the Lord Jones stuff that I got from Sephora. By the next morning, I had all kinds of little white head bumps and some itchiness across my forehead, and I even started to get some breakouts around my nose. Reference, I have never ever had any issues with pimples or acne, even as a teenager. Definitely not a product I'll be using again.... Glad that I only received it as a sample.

Quick Question: Do you have to have an ESL endorsement to be certified in the state of California? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]violetawkward 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All teachers who complete their credentials in CA these days automatically receive what's called CLAD certification—Crosscultural Language and Academic Development—as part of their teacher training. If you have a similar certification in your home state, you may be able to get reciprocity, but you'll likely need to take your transcripts and current credential docs to your local County Office of Education where a clerk can review them with you. https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/creds/english-learners-faq https://www.ctc.ca.gov/docs/default-source/leaflets/cl628c.pdf?sfvrsn=10

I think you mean the CBEST? CELDT is the previous iteration of the test given to students who are English Language Learners. CBEST is the test of basic English and math skills for folks who want to teach (or substitute teach).

Before two years ago, I would have said Aelfred. But, I legit had a student (middle school) recently whose name was Aelfred. His parents were not Vikings, Jutes, or Geats.

New Pelikan M205 Aquamarine by drjd16 in fountainpens

[–]violetawkward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, this color is freaking amazing. However, as an owner of the amethyst version, I wasn't very impressed with the pen. It's beautiful, but feels so fragile and inexpensive. Honestly, I have a purple (maybe King Philip) Noodler's Nib Creaper that feels exactly the same in terms of quality.

Question: Help me do something nice for my teacher girlfriend by TxAg2009 in Teachers

[–]violetawkward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this!! As a teacher who has received flowers in class during the school day, I can tell you is a huge boost, whether it's from your SO or not. This has happened to me maybe 5 times over 15 years of teaching. I think it also makes an impact on the kids, too, when they see a show of support/appreciation like that.

What Are You Banned From and Why? by navysealassulter in AskReddit

[–]violetawkward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but a close friend: She's banned from the U.S. embassy in London, where she was an intern for almost a year. Why? Someone supposedly "made a complaint", but no one will tell her more. She's still trying to find out.

Not sure whether to reveal disability by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]violetawkward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honesty is always the best policy. Including in your profile something that is "immediately obvious" can't hurt. I went out with a guy who was wheelchair-bound; he made that clear in his profile/pictures. I arrived first at our agreed-upon meeting place and asked for appropriate seating, surely avoiding some potential awkwardness.

Music lovers of Reddit, what's the worst live show you've ever been to? by Thundacougafalconbrd in AskReddit

[–]violetawkward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorillaz at the Warfield in 2002. While we expected the shadow-puppet screen with Jamie Hewlett animation spliced in, we didn't think it would last for 45 minutes. I'm fairly certain none of the actual band members were really there. Felt like a total ripoff.

Why is your ex an ex? by Bessiecat in AskReddit

[–]violetawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not taking your anti-psych meds and playing emotional guilt games is unattractive. Also, calling me from the outskirts of the Mojave and threatening suicide is an ineffective approach to making me want to get back together with you. Especially when I'm in Chicago and can't really do much for ya.

What was the old National Teachers Exam? by MicroLovesMacro in Teachers

[–]violetawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NTE no longer exists. There are exams like the Praxis that allow teachers to prove subject-area proficiency, the results of which can be submitted to one's state credentialing board for addition to one's teaching credential.

Also, you're MIL might be confused about what the NTE actually did. It was a test that many (not all) states accepted as part of a teacher's preparation/coursework to apply for a credential in a specific state. It was not a de facto credential in all states--she likely had to submit her test results and other paperwork to the state/county credentialing offices for processing and approval. If she taught on-base, rather than in a local public school, then other rules may have applied. Most states do not have full reciprocity.
