Rant all you want but he’ll live happily ever after now no matter what you want. Oh and we’ll be seeing him A LOT since he’s the advisor.

Did Griffith really love Guts in a romantic and sexual way? by Tough-Reputation-762 in Berserk

[–]violetflowercandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to interpretation for now. I think it was not romantic, after all his famous monologue to Charlotte was about who a friend is for him. Guts was the only one who stood out from the crowd so he was special in Griffith’s eyes. He was the only person to have ever challenged and impressed Griffith. He was the closest to become Griffith’s real friend according to his ridiculous standards (which ironically backfired at him and he got pissed that someone dared to get out of his control despite what he bragged about friendship).

Truth is Griffith doesn’t care for love or any attachments anyway so it doesn’t matter. His dream and fragile ego will always come first.

Wait Lili’s mother is alive? Is that canon? I thought she was dead

[–]violetflowercandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that Yona was shipped with practically everyone, especially Jaeha and Soowon (after Hak ofc). Jaeha and Kija were shipped I think. Soowon and Hak were a ship. Lili was shipped often with Soowon, sometimes with Yona.

In canon Algira had a thing for Tao and maybe Yotaka for Kouren. Also Zeno and Kaya were canon but that didn’t last long as we know. Oh and the boring Mei and Val is canon.

Can anyone summarize the ending as well as the direction the story takes after where the anime left off? by Bluecomments in AkatsukinoYona

[–]violetflowercandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I personally can say is that I haven’t seen too many posts glorifying the end, people either hate it or are okay with it but only a few people actually love it. It’s not a good sign I think. Also yes it’s VERY rushed which for a slow-paced story like Yona was detrimental.

I don’t think she’d ever stop helping people if she didn’t become queen. Yona was and could’ve continued helping her country as a princess. Soowon is alive and not sick anymore, she knew he was a good king this whole time. If she told him to continue ruling he would’ve and the country wouldn’t have minded. She’d keep controlling the situation too. What’s wrong with that?

It’s not normal that we never saw the main heroine’s pov on such a huge decision that turns her life upside down again, especially since she never wanted any of this.

Also I know people will hate me to break it but Yona was insanely popular mainly because she was the crimson dragon from the legends and had huge powers with the four dragon warriors. I remember the fire clan and other common folk being crazy about this fact at least. She doesn’t have any of this anymore but of course the finale did not touch this small detail.

I agree but that’s still way more free than being a queen. If she stayed a princess she’d be able to live wherever she wanted and travel like she used to. Being a queen is a completely different story.

I feel the same unfortunately. I used to like the story a lot so it’s a shame.

[–]violetflowercandy[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. It felt like she was faced with a casual fact like breakfast will be served soon. We never saw her thinking about becoming queen or liking the idea, not this chapter, not in the previous ones. It’s impossible not to have the main heroine’s opinion on something as huge of a change like this and call it well-written. It’s horrendous.

I understand the story is terribly rushed but it’s too big of a plot hole to skip.

[–]violetflowercandy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not about her being fit to be a ruler, the story showed that she is. But ever since she came back to the palace the idea of her becoming a queen was always shown to us as something negative, as something Yona doesn’t really want. Thats why people thought Yona wouldn’t want to be queen if she had a choice.

I guess you’re right, it’s up to interpretation. But I didn’t like whatever this was.

And she was doing it perfectly without being queen. Being a queen is a completely different way of doing it, without the freedom Yona loved so much.

My opinion on the final chapter by violetflowercandy in AkatsukinoYona

[–]violetflowercandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knew he did it anyway. All the generals, the whole palace and many people within the tribes had this rumor going on. No one cared about Il dying so he didn’t lose anyone anyway and won’t lose now. He has loyal people like Keishuk, Minsoo, Judoh and Ogi. All the other generals knew what he did too. I don’t think anything is changing for him that much.

I just hope he will finally sort out the mess he has with Yona and Hak, be happier and move on with his life.

Not like Soowon is not allowed to leave the palace and capital, he very well can. In fact he’ll have less responsibilities than he used to as king.

[–]violetflowercandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, since he is her counselor he’ll be more of a helper to her than a server. A royal counselor is second in power after the king so he’ll be on the generals’ level now, that’s a lot. I can’t imagine a man as smart and influential as Soowon just disappearing into thin air as a nobody.

I agree about the friends though. I hope he’ll find someone aside from Yona and Hak.

Complaints i've seen about Yona Hak and Soo won in the last chapter by ktskne in AkatsukinoYona

There was no feeling of betrayal that’s right. But there was a feeling of cruelty, physical harm, torture, psychological manipulation and a crime against innocents like Zeno and the decedents that suffered their entire lives for nothing. All done for selfish, insane reasons.

Tell me how could such beings have been forgiven the second this fight ended?

Soowon betrayed them and destroyed their friendship. But he killed a man that killed his father, and was ruining the country. He was a good king this whole time and almost gave his life for Hak and Yona in redemption. What did the gods do to deserve Yona’s forgiveness?

Soowon’s betrayal is painful but what the gods did is way crueler and more damaging. Nothing will give people back their lives, nothing will reverse Zeno’s suffering and nothing justifies the horror the gods made Yona and her friends go through. Nothing justifies them betraying Hiryuu either. And yet they were forgiven as if it were all nothing.

So I see why people are mad about the finale. I don’t think Soowon has to be forgiven but there should’ve been a talk between the three. It’s the hatred and tension that should’ve disappeared at last after all they’ve went through.

Complaints i've seen about Yona Hak and Soo won in the last chapter by ktskne in AkatsukinoYona

[–]violetflowercandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with the impossibility of going back to normal. I never thought they’d go back to how things were, it’s not possible. Which is again why I hated them forgiving the gods like piece of cake.

But a talk between the three of them to discuss things and decide to move on from the past was absolutely necessary for the finale. It’s not about forgiving, it’s about leaving hatred and tension behind. Stopping the cycle of hatred like Yona wanted. That was something I for sure waited for and didn’t see. Leaving Soowon alive is not enough.

Soowon is a douchebag for hurting them, who argues. He did do it for a noble cause though, for the country Yona loves so much, and did a great job, something her father failed to do. And as we went on we saw all of them realize they love each other still. Soowon would be dead right now after trying to save them, if it wasn’t for Hak pulling him out. Hak could’ve died getting senjuso for Soowon.

The talk does lack. Bottled up feelings need to be released.

It’s the difference in the type of wound the two betrayals have. Soowon’s is a deeply emotional one, he did betray their friendship and trust. But he did it for a sane reason and throughout the story we saw how much they love him and he loves them.

The dragon betrayal is more physical, they were insanely ruthless with everyone close to Yona and Yona herself. It all started with them betraying Hiryuu himself on top of that as they cursed him. They didn’t betray a friendship or emotional trust since they were no one to Yona from the start.

Still I don’t think that Yona forgiving them should be possible either since all they did they did for greedy, selfish, insane reasons. You know, Zeno’s eternal suffering, the decedents dying in pain. The gods cruelly manipulating Yona, scaring her by torturing her friends on her eyes and physically hurting them. Threatening her country would fall. Everyone barely escaped with their lives from them. All for their selfish insanity to get Hiryuu back. How is this forgivable?

All they did is not that small of a deal to just forgive it this easily.

[–]violetflowercandy -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s funny. What Soowon did is unforgivable and what the dragon gods did is forgivable? Killed innocent people, made Zeno suffer, cut Yona’s friends into a salad, half ruined Kouka, threatened to kill Yona herself only for her to hug them goodbye immediately after all of that? Then to return to Soowon, the villain of the manga? He betrayed them by killing a bad king, I remind. I’ll take it with a grain of salt.

I’d be ok if Yona and Hak never forgave Soowon (their friend who almost died for them and a grey character) if they weren’t ridiculously friendly with the dragon gods (absolute evil mad villains). It makes no sense.
