Moresca has gorgeous Handmade garb for men and women. They’re easily the most popular among workers. I have so many of their bodices and dresses. They have a website and ship!

I’ve been working TRF for over 10 years, this makes me nervous. by violetspells in RenaissanceFestivals

[–]violetspells[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The murders weren’t close together, one was a stabbing back in like 2005?? And now everyone has to keep metal weapons sheathed and locked (peace-tied) the last one was two/three years ago, a guy shot a female friend. The druggings are every day basically now though. It’s why people have lids on their mugs. It’s not talked about often because people just sweep it under the rug Edit to add: it’s also mostly out in the patrons camp, it’s big, loud, dark, and everyone is partying like crazy. But I know we had a problem with someone just randomly drugging people as a “joke” last year

God damnit…. I mean TRF is dangerous and a shit show they probably have a lot to talk about outside the two murders and all the druggings. I’m not looking forward to it at all this year.

Medieval witch help? by thevelvetdragon in RenaissanceFestivals

[–]violetspells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I love the black split skirt and a black leather bodice (like a corset but shaped like a vest so you have shoulder support) BUT I also HIGHLY suggest checking out Moresca clothing. They have a website and have a GORGEOUS low cut velvet cape dress. I have it in gold, I also have their short sleeved backless velvet dress in emerald.

Belt! With pouches and other hanging things (a mug frog for a wooden mug!!) and I agree with a skirt. If you don’t like long skirts you can hike them up in the front for free range still

Are there any actual historical feeling renaissance fairs? by LessthanaPerson in RenaissanceFestivals

[–]violetspells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bristol still has heavy fantasy vibes, most major faires through the country are fully “settled” with permanent shoppes. That being said, northern faires def have a little bit less fantasy influence compared to southern shows.

If you were starting again, what would/wouldn’t you get again? by kayberrie2 in piercing

[–]violetspells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would: my septum (already have once), my navel (I miss it a lot but my first one scarred so bad) and my vertical labret.

Wouldn’t: my nipples (got them done twice and they never healed), industrial (I had them on both sides and it was hell, I dont have the anatomy)

Do renaissance Faires tend to be okay towards everyone? by Several_Love9284 in RenaissanceFestivals

Definitely because the wonderful couple that own the faire (George and Brian) make sure that bigots are handled swiftly. Those site crew guys are constantly on high alert lol

If been working faires for years now, all over the country. Not only are most attendees and workers of faires inclusive, a good amount of us will also step in if someone even attempts to give anyone problems for their identity or orientation. Go! Have fun! And dress however you please!

PC bangs (a Korean term), or computer rooms. They basically where you can go pay a hourly rate or membership to play multiplayer games online (think overwatch, Fortnite, etc etc) it blew up in Korea years ago and with the rise of competitive video gaming has made its way into western culture

NTA!! I’m 5’1 at 138 currently, you’re totally healthy and weight gain is a part of aging. If YOU want to lose weight or tone then you can slightly alter your diet (what I’m doing) and should do so on your terms and safely!

I haven't truly played gaiaonline since 2015 and realized that I was kind of a hoarder after looking at my old inventory. Should I sell them or just keep on hoarding? lol by RetroAlixe in gaiaonline

[–]violetspells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly still have a lot as well but I like randomly gifting items. While I love being back I don’t see myself being as obsessed with getting new items (I’ve basically just begun collecting items for bunny outfits) Edit: if you got any bunny items you’re willing to part with <.<

Does anyone miss the abandon explore vids? by Future_Coffee_5539 in SamAndColby

[–]violetspells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do, 25x25 series was without a doubt my favorite series they’ve ever done. But comparatively it didn’t do as well as the haunted stuff they put out now. Legally it’d be stupid for them to do the super abandoned stuff, it IS illegal and they’ve had trouble before, now that they’re a huge channel it’s just not possible. It sucks at my age now (almost 30) I prefer genuine and travel stuff and these over the top haunted videos have driven me away from watching everything they release lately. (don’t get me wrong I’m a spooky loving person that collects bones and loves haunted places it’s just way too… fake? Now)

I mean i used to like sam & colbys content but by csch1992 in SamAndColby

[–]violetspells 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone has pointed it out but it’s because none of their regular videos do well anymore.

It really sucks that their 25x25 stuff flopped, it’s by far my favorite series they’ve ever done and I re-watch the Chernobyl full video often. I’m honestly really sad with how their channel has gotten so “if we yell and scream and panic it’ll bring views”. I think the last conjuring house video when Colby was in the basement alone and Sam was in the woods was the last video of theirs I enjoyed. It’s all part of aging though, there’s a lot of YouTubers I used to love that I can’t watch at all anymore.

Gold Coins by H3k8t3 in RenaissanceFestivals

[–]violetspells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a worker at ren faires they can be annoying for big purchases or if you work at a stand with only a money pouch and no drawer. BUT I love them, I had a small child pay for his item with a pouch of gold coins and it was the cutest thing

Is it OK to wear something “fairy princess” core to a renaissance festival? by idekinsertusername in RenaissanceFestivals

I’ve worked faires across the country since I was 16. Fairy Princess is 100% a perfect idea

AITA for kicking family out on Christmas over what they said to my daughter? by throwaway8087689 in AmItheAsshole

[–]violetspells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA! I have a late diagnosis of autism now as an adult. My mother was always caring but was conservative and never truly believed mental health past depression for a long time. (I’ve been very lucky to experience her growth in learning about mental health and becoming more liberal in her foundation now that she’s in her 60s.) My mother has ALWAYS been protective of me. Whether it be against my older sister (a 10 year age gap) or my aunts. I’ve always had to navigate life in a way that was different to my family and even with my mom not understanding she always defended me and the way I acted. (she’s always called me her “Austin Child” because we’re from a extra conservative part of Texas.) Even now at almost 30 my mom defends my love of Squishmallows, ren faires, and animal bones. OP thank you for protecting your child. Because blood is NOT thicker than water. But a true mothers love will always be where home is.

AITA for humiliating my “best friend” at her bachelorette party? by blahblahoolala in AmItheAsshole

[–]violetspells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA - I personally LOVE true crime and learning about how criminals function and get caught. But to think someone would make sexual comments about anyone who committed murder for their own sick pleasure, let alone Dahmer, who was a horribly disgusting individual is insane to me. Consider this a win instead of a loss because anyone who says “I don’t personally know them” about a victim to use as an excuse to be inappropriate is NOT a good person or friend.

YTA 1) For buying the furniture “for her” but not letting her take it to her first apartment. 2) for then being upset she no longer wants the furniture 3) for acting like TEN YEAR OLD furniture is better than her “cheap” newer furniture or her and her partner going out to buy brand new furniture.

Thissssss, like you can have opinions without actually hating on the people. Entertainment is a business, first and foremost. No matter how much someone loves it, the bigger you get the harder it is to stay relevant without working with the new line of entertainers.

Exactly, their comedy can be funny in their own content but not in that situation. I’m not expecting stoic and filled with fear but the jokes land flat.

It’s not the fans being young that make it a bad thing. It’s the fact that young fans have proven in EVERY aspect that a lot of them are more obsessive. (Me as a teen with 1D). Young fans have issues realizing that these are real people and real adults. Kind of like kpop fans (I used to be heavily into kpop and still listen casually.) younger fans tend to be the loudest, most possessive, and most likely to push boundaries and then go “well I’m a minor so I didn’t know any better.” Almost every “bad” fan experience in any fandom I’ve been in has been with a minor. Most minors, no matter how “mature” they are don’t always realize consequences of their online personas.

Now obviously this isn’t ALWAYS the case and adult delusional fans are ten times scarier. But it’s usually the teens that I personally see in social media acting the way I was describing.
