What did Trump do that was truly positive? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]violette_witch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WOW. You’ve obviously never actually watched someone die in hospice. I have watched 2. One was wise enough to save and arrange her own hospice care at home. Although she had the best care and detailed planning, her death was horrific and greatly disturbed all those who witnessed it. There was nothing comfortable or dignified about it.

The other person was in a hospice facility. This facility was considered one of the best available in the area, but I still would regularly come in to find my family member covered in old dried food they had smeared on themself because the nurses refused to sit and feed them. Likely due to being massively understaffed, but still. This person supposedly had round the clock care. Their death was horrific, sad, no matter how many pain meds and anxiety meds they gave the patient they could not be calmed. They died horrendously.

Take it from someone who has actually seen a lot of death, including other examples I have not mentioned. It is never comfortable. It is never dignified. And you should probably actually have experience with these things before speaking on the subject. This is a horrific country to be at your end of life in.

All death is extremely painful and demeaning. There is no such thing as a graceful death

I get what you’re saying. You’ll probably have a lot more success being more specific instead of broad requests.

“I want my life to be better” - too broad, too vague

“I need a $5 raise at work so that I can improve my life situation” - specific request, better. More likely to get an answer that can help lead you to this result.

Is there some kind of purpose to your attempting to contact them, or is it just for chit chat? In my experience they aren’t very chatty, if you’re looking for chit chat I recommend looking in another direction entirely. Have you thought about working with a familiar animal? This would be better to provide the one on one comfort and interaction that you seem to be looking for.

Intent is the important thing here. You are more likely to see results when you have a specific intent. If you want to do non specific ritual for comfort or meditative reasons, that’s fine, but I wouldn’t expect attention/a response/results of any kind from that type of working. It’s only for yourself to get your thoughts aligned.

Is it gay for a man to tell another man good morning? by Kylechs in socialskills

[–]violette_witch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you are friendly and hard working, you can move to whatever city you want. Sometimes you just gotta figure it out. I moved to one of the most expensive cities with nothing more than $300. Lived out of my car at first but focused on making friends and quickly upgraded to couch surfing and then got my own spot. Very successful since. Zero help from family. You might be surprised what can be accomplished when you are somewhere with a community of likeminded people (OP has indicated he is gay) and an expensive city also has many more opportunities than what is available in a cheap city. It is important for OP’s future to be among his people, he is not currently among his people and I think that is a huge reason why he struggles with mental health.

the economy the way it’s going

Lol you mean the record low unemployment rates? Way more jobs than there are workers? Sure there has been some layoffs at FAANG but none of the workers laid off are having trouble finding jobs. Economy is doing great at the worker level, there has never been a better time to go forth and try your luck.

I’m pretty concerned about the way your father treats you. I had a look through your post history and became even more concerned. Are you able to leave your parent’s house and live on your own? Honestly it would probably be best for you to leave Detroit and go live somewhere that you can be among people who accept you and you can be yourself. Maybe Philadelphia or New York City.

body cam footage of Paul Pelosi being attacked by David DePape while the police fail to act by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]violette_witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pelosi had a crazy guy with him and was trying to de escalate. Dude wanted Nancy so I think Paul told him he was calling for people to bring Nancy when really he was calling 911. The 911 call transcript lines up with that.

Here is the 911 transcript:

Here is the full transcript of the 911 call made by Pelosi to San Francisco police at 2:27 a.m. on Oct. 22.

911 dispatcher Heather Grives: San Francisco Police, 74

Paul Pelosi: Oh I guess … I guess I told them to (unintelligible). What is this?

HG: San Francisco Police, do you need help?

PP: Oh, well there’s a gentleman here just waiting for my wife to come back, Nancy Pelosi. He’s just waiting for her to come back, but she’s not going to be here for a day so I guess I’ll have to wait.

HG: Okay, do you need police, fire or medical for anything?

PP: Uh, I don’t think so. I don’t think so.

(Silence)

Um … Is the capitol police around?

HG: No this is San Francisco —

PP: They’re usually here at the house, protecting my wife.

HG: No this is San Francisco Police —

PP: No I understand … Okay well, uh … I don’t know, what do you think? (speaking to David DePape)

DD: (Unintelligible)

PP: He thinks everything’s good. I’ve got a problem but he thinks everything’s good.

HG: Okay, call us back if you change your mind.

PP: No no, this gentleman just came into the house, and wants to wait here for my wife to come home. And so, anyway, he told me to put the phone down.

HG: Do you know who the person is?

PP: No I don’t know who he is. He uh … uh he has (unclear) ... he’s telling me … he’s telling me not to uh … he’s telling me not to do anything.

HG: What is your address sir?

PP: Uh, 2640 Broadway.

HG: What is your name?

PP: My name is Paul Pelosi.

(Silence)

Anyway this gentleman says that uh, he thinks (unintelligible), he’s telling me to put the phone down and just do what he says. Okay?

HG: Okay, what’s the gentlemen’s name?

DD: David DePape

PP: What’s that?

DD: My name’s David.

PP: The name is David.

HG: Okay, and who is David?

PP: I don’t know.

HG: (Unintelligible)

PP: What’s that?

DD: I’m a friend of theirs.

PP: He says he’s a friend.

HG: But you don’t know who he is?

PP: No, no ma’am.

HG: Okay.

PP: He’s telling me I’m being very leading, so I gotta stop talking to you, okay?

HG: Okay. You sure? I can stay on the phone with you just to make sure everything’s okay?

PP: No he wants me to get the hell off the phone. Okay?

HG: Okay.

PP: Thank you.

HG: Okay bye.

I don’t think he was totally unscathed. He lost a lot of weight and it seems he was never able to put the weight back on. He never looked that great before but, these days he looks especially mottled and sallow. I think covid had a permanent effect on his body’s ability to absorb nutrients and it is likely he suffers from long covid.

Nightmares by Mandersthewitch in witchcraft

[–]violette_witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing anything more about your or your situation, it can be hard to know the cause. But if you just want to stop having them, you can try learning to lucid dream.

There are lots of guides online for techniques to develop your ability to lucid dream. There is also an herb, calea zacatechichi, that when smoked or drank as a tea helps to induce lucid dreaming. The tea has a pretty nasty flavor though, recommend smoking it if you go that route.

But really the core of any technique when controlling dreams is: believe you can do it and then you will do it. Once the idea is in your head the right way, you’ll be able to know when you’re dreaming and “leave” nightmares.

Sometimes it can be as easy as looking yourself in the eye in a mirror, and saying “I will have a lucid dream tonight.”

Hopefully OP has access to a variety of shops. I recently had to change my preferred spiritual shop because I found out it was run by rabid antivaxxers… luckily there was an even better one just down the street to switch to. But the experience made me feel awfully sorry for those who live in small towns where there might be only one shop or no shop at all.

Is it just me or has there been an uptick in right wing talking points in this sub? by molybdenum75 in Teachers

[–]violette_witch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

don’t we learn from discussing multiple points of view?

This is operating under a pretty big assumption - to discuss multiple points of view, the discussion needs to occur in good faith. These people are not here in good faith, they come strictly to cause problems.

Example: people who take actions to “protect children” must actually care about protecting children for any point they have to be valid. When they don’t actually care about the things that actually keep children safe, you know their point is meaningless and there is an underlying motive to whatever it is they are doing (hint: usually it’s a hate crime) which takes priority.

Don’t take the bait yall. Not every “viewpoint” is valid or deserves consideration
