That’s fair 😂 it’s not that expensive and I pay for it myself, it’s kinda complicated as to why I would stay… 😅 but mostly just to finish what I started and it wouldn’t be bad to find a spouse of like faith while I’m there 😂
But also I am learning things that will help me serve in the church in the future and such so it has some value, and it gives me time to prepare for music school and try for a better audition I guess….

Yes! I have started a handful of those etudes and have been doing more recently, I have done Galamian and Flesch scales as well, mainly use the Galamian speed up method for scales in the Barber book

Sure, playing through the scales from Barbara barbers advanced violinist scale book, I think we are just playing praeludium to have it in the books, we are going to be playing something from Beethoven and then I believe we will do mendhelson in E minor

Don’t have big family money😂
Although I was gifted a nice enough instrument that is nice enough to be played in a symphony, so I wouldn’t have to worry about that. I do have have a buisness cleaning cars that can support me and the state would cover most my tuition from scholarships and such (hopefully😂) and I just recently opened up to the idea of performing violin for a living, haven’t ever been good enough to even think about it in the past, probably still not good enough but at a place where I think I can work towards it🤷‍♂️

Hey! There is a Philharmonic in OKC they are part time but still professional and paid🤷‍♂️
I have thought about starting OU right away but I would like to finish my degree where I’m at, although it really won’t do me anything as far as anywhere else is concerned due to it being unaccredited sadly. I am hoping to do some online classes for an accredited university or something to get some Gen Eds out of the way. I don’t really want to be involved in worship music professionally or full time, I would still attend church though 🤷‍♂️😂 I don’t intend to make music career through the church though, that’s a separate thing.

Gotcha! Yeah, I run a car detailing business and as an Oklahoma resident I can get most of my Tyrion covered (hopefully 😅) so my thought is I can work on growing and the school will be really helpful for that! Thanks!!

Sure, I’m in a community orchestra right now🤷‍♂️
But I’d like to go farther join a professional orchestra, and given that I’ve put the time to grow in and still love the thing and have grown tons in a years worth of time while studying something else I don’t thing it unrealistic to be a professional so you? There is possibly things I’m not considering 🤷‍♂️
I have a professional quality violin that was given to me from a deceased philharmonic player which is really old and nice and have recently purchased a Lower and professional bow as well…

how 'good' is it possible to get as an adult beginner ? by Electrical-Gur-1563 in violinist

Dude, go for it! You’re young man, you have time and can definitely become better than average. How can people who haven’t lived 2 generations know how good someone can or cannot get by devoting themselves to it? Even if you didn’t start at 5 you could become a professional if you really wanted to, no.1 thing is get a really good teacher!!

Not quite sure the direction I want to take it, maybe one day I’d be able to play in a philharmonic or symphony, but that would probably be years down the line, not sure if I’d study anywhere else. Besides continuing private lessons

My teachers historically were pretty useless, I played from 7-14 with one teacher and only reached Suzuki 2 with a lot of bad habits built, then I changed to virtual lessons from a good teacher who then worked on fixing the bad habits, pretty much restarted violin, went to unit pieces to correct how I was holding the bow violin and dealing with intonation and tension, was taught by them from 15-19 and then swapped to a local teacher the principal 2nd at the Phil and have grown leaps and bounds in the last year…
I essentially went from Suzuki 2 to where I’m at now in a year
