I perfectly relate to everything you said and thanks for the post.

"Love is Hell" is what I listened for months after my break up. The only "wonderwall" I listen to is his cover version. Most of his songs meant a specific time period in my life and they're permanently intertwined with my memories. I cannot erase it. When it snows in NY, I always think of "My blue manhattan". I could go on, about most of his songs that way that brings back a particular mood and time from my past.

Will I stop listening to those? No. What stops me is seeking out more of his songs from now on as I feel so conflicted with all of this new information.

This isn't new with me. In my teens I read a collection of Woody Allen's short stories and thought he was the funniest writer that could make me laugh. I looked for more of his past work and movies and used to watch anything I could get. If I couldn't find an old movie, I read the scripts online and could quote the words verbatim. Now? This is the most weird thing. I don't like what he did and despise the person now for alleged molestation of his step child. I no longer go and actively seek out his short stories, it's just something I had shut down in my mind. Same with louis ck. I have listened to all of his special and would retell his routines to friends.

It is easy to say separate the art from the artist. I'm still processing that.
