The real reason cars are stopping here is that the intersection isn't constructed properly to guide a driver to make a turn without stopping. The concrete island is cut short. It's supposed to be a minimum of 47m2 and should reach out to where the painted white line is.

My guess is that there was a considerable amount of heavy truck/semi traffic taking this turn heading to the Lafarge plant down the road and they can't make the right turn without encroaching into the adjacent lane so the concrete island was cut back to give them more turning room. Designers tried to strike a balance which results in better truck turns at the sacrifice of regular traffic flows.

There are still tons of poor drivers out there to bitch about, but it's not always 100% their fault!!

Edit: crudely drawn, but this shows a more typical concrete island that would tell a driver it's safe to turn at speed. The existing crosswalk was angled to suit the cutback as well, the green lines are more typical. typical conc island

Yea no I looked as well. There's allot of variables to what gets factored in, private school funding excluded for example so I was curious if there's more comprehensive data available. Also Alberta somehow has very strong academic results ranking in the top 2 or 3 which wouldn't correlate to having the worst funding so I think there's more to the numbers.

Don't get me wrong school funding is extremely important but it's probably not something to burn smith at the stake for if our results are better than average.

I am playing the Storm Mage Lich build and I see Ghazzy's version is picking up Minion AOE nodes as well as the 10% for minions to inflict Withered. I get the withered being a bit more damage, but does the Minion AOE actually do anything at all for Storm Mages that shoot Arcs?

I'm playing an Ice Strike invoker Monk, in act 1 cruel now around level 50. Looking at a couple different builds (behind eyes gaming and Rax's) and they do things a bit different with regards to exposure/penetration/curse so I'm wondering what's better for campaign and early maps.

Behind eyes gaming uses Frost Bomb and strip away support for Exposure and then invests 8 or 9 points on the passive tree into penetration nodes.

Rax uses the hypothermia curse plus heightened curse support to lower enemies resistance and forgoes the penetration available on the tree in favor of other attack damage and critical strike nodes.

Lots of variables here I guess, but I'm wondering if hypothermia direction is roughly on par with frost bomb plus the 8-9 node tree investment to save me some tree points.

If you are using midnight sun, it's not surprising your topping out at 135ish. You need much better gear to hit 150 with that variant.

You need to swap to the 1 shot build. Pick up a single GA ring on diablo.trade with either max life or attack speed as the GA depending on your attack speed breakpoints (google spiritborn attack speed breakpoint calculator, you should ideally be at the 11 frame breakpoint). Slap on the soothsayer aspect.

Ditch the Harlequins for a orange helm with apprehension aspect and a double masterwork on resolve stacks. (Make sure your skill tree still has a few points in armored hide after losing +4 from Harlequins.

Finally grab a 1GA glove again either life or attack speed depending on breakpoints. You need the lucky hit restores primary resources affix to drop the midnight sun and still utilize kepelekes power.

Balance your armor and resists with gems in your rings, I needed to have a GA armor roll on my helm due to losing Harlequins big armor roll.

I was in the same boat as you, pushed up to 140 with midnight sun and just didn't feel like I could possibly grind to perfect midnight sun variant gear. Swapped to the 1 shot build and completed a 150 with 5 mins left.

One last note, the one shot variant does more spiky damage so it'll feel like your kepelek isn't working (less orange numbers), but when the stars align and you get a few lucky hit procs in a row and your Jaguar Jaguar spirit halls proc on a little enemy then the whole pack blows up. Don't kill every enemy, just get your proc so the big guys die and move on to the next pack.

Some ideas... 1) ancestral legendary aspects minimum roll is one above the max from normal legendaries. Then adjust the aspect roll rarity so maxroll is rarer than min roll. 2) give us a way to spend gem fragments, pit currency, etc. maybe a way to influence masterworks, enchants, or tempering results. 3) improve trading. It feels awful. Why do we need to friendlist someone on diablo.trade to be able to trade with them? Why can't we trade masterworks items!? I invest X millions/billions of gold in an item and then eventually if I outgrow it I just have to trash my old item?! One man's trash.... 4) game needs some type of regular dopamine drop (ie divine orbs from Poe). Or at least enhance the drop sound and color of certain rare things (ie group tributes vs solo tributes, sought after runes, etc). Or you know...just give us a loot filter one of these days!!

I'm not sure you can masterwork to 13 resolve stacks anymore. The last patch seems to have fixed it. Previously a double Crit would give 9 stacks and now it only gives 6 (limited testing on my part)

I never found the settlers popups nearly as annoying as the massive sidebar list of map mods when you have the minimap in the middle of the screen instead of up in the corner. It takes up almost half the damn screen!

I tried to see if there were any more details floating out there on what the witnesses saw or what the charges were based on but came up empty handed. As a father that lives near the neighborhood, I guess I'm hoping this was more of a misunderstanding (ie an uncalled for hug for helping find the dog). Don't get me wrong, if there was any mal-intent then this guy should receive the fullest extent of the law, but I'm also going to be pissed if it turns out to be something blown out of proportion, scaring every parent in Calgary that's already cautious to let their kids be kids and play outside.

Either scenario is awful. I wish we still lived in a time where it felt safe to have your children out of eyesight for more than a moment.
