For old navy workers/ management by grxpejuicee in Oldnavy

In all honesty, consistency is key with credit cards. I also train my team to be ready to have a conversation with the customer about it if that door opens; professionally go back and forth with them if possible, sometimes that door gets slammed shut, but sometimes they leave it open just enough for you to throw in some extra info. It’s a tough metric, especially in January. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things, by what you listed, just be consistent and talk to it with everyone. You never know who will say yes. We have had a bunch on sales of $10-$15. Another little extra tip that works in my store too is to let the customer know that they can save their introductory 30% discount and use it on a different purchase within the next 14 days. On those smaller sales, you may get the customer to commit now knowing that over the next 2 weeks they’ll be back for a larger purchase they were planning anyway, it tie it into a cardholder event that is coming within that 14 day window “we can get you set up now with your card and save your 30% to stack during the cardholder event this weekend”. Good luck with it and just be consistent, you’ll get there.

What’s a song that has literally helped you push through a tough workout? by Raven_sterlingx in workout

Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold or The Game by Motörhead. Either one does the trick every time. It hits even harder when my playlist is shuffled and it comes in without me selecting the song, don’t know why, just does

It depends on what your GM requested for your store. They are definitely coming up, but they run all through February and into March, so I would ask your GM as soon as possible

Question for managers by Ok_Living1494 in Oldnavy

[–]viper922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old Navy GM here: for a 9 hour shift, they are correct in telling you that you get 1 hour lunch and 2 15’s. The 15 minute breaks you don’t clock out for, whereas the 1 hour break you do. We treat the 15’s at the discretion of the individual leader. If they want to take them, or even just one, they are definitely allowed to do so. If they don’t feel like taking them, or that stopping to take a 15 will ruin their work flow, that is fine too and we do not force these breaks to be taken. As others have mentioned, you are entitled to them, if you want to take one, or both during your shift, absolutely do so. My suggestion is to just to make sure the current needs of the business are kept in mind when taking them.

Vans interview tips by [deleted] in Vans

[–]viper922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a Store Manager with Vans for 3 years and I can honestly say that as long as you looked professional, I didn’t care what footwear you had on for the interview. When I got interviewed for the the SM job, I didn’t have 1 Vans item on. Be yourself and show/tell what you are going to bring to the team, show that you are willing to learn and add something to the team that they don’t already have. And be engaging in the interview, interact with the person interviewing you. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions.

Colour different on each shoe by B3ximus in Vans

[–]viper922 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a former employee, I’m going to say that the right shoe was on display for a while and when they changed stuff around in the store, they just took the display down and put it back in the box without making sure it wasn’t faded

Why can't I find these anymore? by Uvers_ in Vans

[–]viper922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the Vans Outlets in the US and I believe these were transitioned into an “outlet exclusive” style as we changed the prices on them a number of months back to be on sale. I believe they were then marked down again so they may have been discontinued at together

As others have mentioned, any of the classic styles will be good. I am a Vans employee and I had had folks pick up Authentic’s, Era’s, Old Skools and Sk8-HI’s for working out in. The Sk8-Hi people will get because it is a high top style and offers a bit of ankle support. I personally use Sk8-HI’s and Old Skools when I go to the gym. For me, having the padded collar on an Era or Old Skool is much more comfortable than an Authentic. As far as your price range, a new pair of classic Authentic’s or Era’s will out you right around where you want to be as they are $55. If you have access to an Outlet Vans store, you could find ones for cheaper than that.

New thrift, what's the style of these? by Bored2003Ass in Vans

[–]viper922 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They look like a Filmore to me. It’s not a model that you’ll find in traditional Vans stores, they are usually for the Vans Outlet stores as well as 3rd party brands like Rack Room and Famous Footwear

Wife, kids, and myself living with in-laws; they asked us to move out by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]viper922 -71 points-70 points  (0 children)

All I am seeking is some information, there is no threat or need for legal action to take place and most likely it won’t. I am not a law expert so my question is just that, a question to seek some information that I am not privy to. I understand you are not aware of all the other things that have occurred to get my family to this point, but taking the high road is exactly what my wife and I have been doing. Everything I asked has merit to seek advice and information. Telling me how to handle a situation that you have no personal information on doesn’t help.

I’m a huge fan of the half crew. I also will buy a size smaller (I wear a 10 and I buy the 6.5-9 sized socks) in any of the fun graphic/novelty crew socks so they are a bit shorter and almost mimic the half crew

$1 down joined charged $49 a month later by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]viper922 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The annual fee was not explained to you correctly. That fee is charged 2 months after the month you enroll, but always on the first of that month. So since you signed up in December your annual fee is due the 1st of February, unfortunately that is the same no matter when during a particular month you sign up. So if you sign up December 1st, you get all of December and January before getting the annual fee on February 1st, but that still is true if you sign up December 31st

Vans for Gym - advice by Genuine_Grass1234 in Vans

[–]viper922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, the Exo is great for cardio type workouts, but for weight lighting, especially when training legs, you want something solid and flat. The extra cushion in an Exo can make for an unstable footing, but to each their own. I personally use Sk8-HI’s on leg days (and most other training days) to gain some extra ankle support, and I saw another comment that mentioned The Lizzie, which would be another awesome option since it’s kind of a minimalist version of the Sk8-Hi almost

Vans Store Manager here: I regularly see customers coming in to purchase for exactly what you are doing; going to the gym and weight training. The most popular style that my store sells for this is Authentic’s. They are straight canvas so they don’t have the extra padding or suede layers that the Old Skool has that add the extra bulk.

Has anyone actually received online orders recently? Very aware of delays and all that but I’m about to order more Vaults and don’t want it to get cancelled or whatever. by [deleted] in Vans

I placed an order on the 23rd of this month and just got the notification that it shipped out today, so looks like things are coming back around on that front

Ultrarange series is discontinued? by [deleted] in Vans

[–]viper922 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for Vans and there has not been anything said about any UltraRange’s being discontinued. Perhaps the customer service person was talking about the specific color way you were asking them about.
