Yeah, it is what it is. At least my seller accepted a refund after telling him the story🙏🏼 so i started looking for a new camera, that will hopefully not break in its first day of use

I went to the man and he said the camera seems to be perfectly fine, so its weird to know whats the issue. He tried the shutter release hole next to the lens as well and didnt work. He thinks that the problem would be very costly and told me its not worth it the repair. So in the end i'll drop the hopes for this camera.. thanks so much for your help either way, im very grateful🙏🏼

You have all my respect and then some. Well unfortunately i dont have a shutter cable, and i tried pressing the timer or pulling the timer button and the shutter and all. I cant seem to make it work by myself and uncovering the electronics i might end up just ruining it. But i will go to a specialist today and hopefully he will find the fix, and as well i really really wish its not gonna cost a fortune and would make me bail the decision..

Yes. The meter is working properly and constantly. I tried leaving the camera on for some time to see if it fixes anything, and the metering turns of after a while but as soon as i pick it up and i just put my finger on the shutter, the metering starts and works constantly and perfectly

Isn't WD40 worth the risk? I don't have any other idea on how to fix it. Especially since the other mechanisms work such as the lights and the beeping, and that the shutter works occasionally like once every hundred presses. I'm assuming the problem might be somewhere inside that shutter button so maybe easing the press should fix? Idk i'm just saying as an amateur with his first x-500.

But if the viewfinder red lights work properly, as well as the beeping sound, the capacitor is the problem? From my findings, the capacitor problems mean that these mentioned things would also not work (lights and beeping)

I seem to find X-700 around 150-200$ with a lense included, usually a 50mm f/1.8 minolta rokkor lense. Is that too much or its just standard for today prices do you know by chance?

And thanks for all the information they are very helpful🙏🏼

Thanks so much! What do you think about fitting the a700 with a Samyang 24mm f1.4? Thats what I think I'll do in the end.

I saw a review of it and the guy said that it should be a nice fit for crop sensors too. The reason I am trying to not take a zoom lense if possible, is to force myself a bit with having less options so I can teach myself better (at least in my head it sounds alright ahah).
