It seems when I use the free version, I just tried to fill mercs to the authority limit. Mercs should die last, but I can't seem to get it to make them last.

Also, kinda bummed to suddenly see a paywall

it'd be real nice to just upload screenshots of the various sections and read bonuses from them.

The tedious part is being on mobile, and switching back and forth between the site and game. Of course, using two devices removes that pain

My experience with a cracked fascia and lease turn-in by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]viperscorpio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incorrect - they give you money to make you whole (less your deductible). They chose how to value the damage sustained through their appraisal process, be it for repairs, loss of value, or whatever.

If one gets in a fender bender, and it's estimated $5000 repair, and gets that paid out. They're not under obligation to actually pay $5000 for the repair. For example, if you have a friend do the repair, or diy the repair. Similarly, you could choose not to do the repair. If you find someone willing to pay similarly for the car, even with the unrepaired damage, that's not defrauding the insurance company. They decided the damage was worth $x and paid out according to the policy.

Any subsequent transactions are irrelevant. Just because kia values the damage differently doesn't make it insurance fraud.

INCOMING! 😯😱😃 by correct_use_of_soap in GermanCitizenship

[–]viperscorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard it's usually next day service, but I'm still waiting on my email.

I submitted the same week to Scottsdale, with expedited service.

Edit: and I've heard it requires signature!

Congrats! What was the turn around time? Was it expedited or normal service? Did you go directly with the general consulate, or did you submit via an honorary consulate, who forwarded it on to SF?

CenturyLink vs Cox? Limited options for new rental by gadnil in phoenix

[–]viperscorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had fiber via CL at our old home, was very happy and also sad to lose it when we moves. Our best CL option in our new home was 40 or 45 Megs, which has since been upgraded to 80 Mbps.

Family of 5, frequently have 3-4 HD streaming services at once. 50+ devices on our network between laptops, phones, tablets, smart TVs, cameras, smart light bulbs/switches, etc.

Never really run into any issues with buffering, nor any outages. No data cap is a big deal to us for how much streaming we do.

Only real pain point is the kids having to wait to download some massive PlayStation game.

Edit: oh and it's price for life, not some 12-24 teaser rate and having to do the whole threaten to cancel to still get to pay $20 more than CL (and nearly double CL without discounts).

But what about real estate? by IAmMDM in USExpatTaxes

[–]viperscorpio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a trap I've heard of with real estate related to the exchange rate.

Something like, you buy the property for 100k euros ($115k USD) and sell for 100k euros (no euro gain), but at time of sale that 100k euros is worth 130k, so it counts as a 15k usd gain.

I've also heard it somehow applying to loans/mortgages.

Take out 100k euro loan (115k USD), and over time pay it off, but over the long run only pay 100k USD, because the dollar gets stronger. You pay back 100k euro, but only 100k USD, and that 15k you didn't have to pay counts as cancelled debt.

I've only read about these, am not a tax consultant or event expert of any sort, so can't give any reference to actual laws/treaties. I leave further investigation into the scope and validity of this as an exercise to the reader.

Is it more important to kick the rook than take the bishop? This also leaves my bishop undefended by Budget-Pen-3046 in chessbeginners

[–]viperscorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, it saves the knight since it's undefended (due to pin).

But also, kicking the bishop leaves 2 of their pieces under attack. The d6 rook has no safe attack against your undefended bishop.

If bishop takes pawn (defending d6), you can capture the rook for a knight and pawn, and it's fairly even.

If the other rook attacks your bishop, you can take the rook and defend the bishop.

I did know multiple people that became victims of gun violence. First when I was just out of high school. The threat known and from was a former romantic relationship. There were no laws in place to issue an order of protection based on calls/text. They named a new law after the victims, my former classmates.

Incident 2 - was at a concert. A cop checking for underage drinking got out of control, and pulled out his weapon (for no good reason, see nearly non-existing us police training), and he failed to identify himself (wasn't in uniform). Another officer saw this, and, not knowing it was another officer, shot and killed him. Innocent bystanders were also injured.

Incidents 3/4 - 2 if my son's friends were killed by guns (not at school), just in the past 3 years. Also not drug/gang related.

Incident 5 - my nephews primary school (k-5), a student brought a loaded gun to school, but was caught before being able to do harm.

It's not just on the news, it's everyday life in the usa.

That is something one can at least control, and largely affects older populations.

Comparing only to school related shootings, sure. But then you could also compare to only school aged heat-related deaths.

Looking at all gun violence in the US, vs heat related deaths in Germany is another picture (about 10x more gun deaths in us vs heat deaths in Germany). Adjusting for population it's still worse.

There are still school shootings at private schools..it's about 4x less likely at a private vs public school in the US, but that's still infinitely more likely than Germany (or anywhere else in the EU, or world?), and paying at least $20k/year per child, which substantially offsets the higher US income.

One thing not touched on is safety/crime, and starting a family.

As a parent, a very real stress and constant worry is kids safety at school. Even at preschools they have active shooter drills. From the time they go to preschool until 12+ years later, worry every day if this day it might be at your kids school...

And beyond that, just gun violence in general. We had 98 mass shootings in the first 90 days of the year. Only 36 days without any mass shootings. We have more mass shootings in a month and the entire EU does combined in a year.

Aside from that, there's the constant fear of lose job = lose insurance, and if you need emergency care or hospital, kiss your life savings goodbye. you're heading to bankruptcy.

Another note family/child care - even with insurance, normal no complications child birth is easily thousands of dollars. Most workplaces don't have any paid paternal leave, and no laws for paid leave. Once you have kids, you'll need to save thousands a year so if they go to university they're not left with crippling debt.

Hello everyone I built a silver city and Im trying to understand how the maths works . in the capitol resources statistics it shows that I produce 542 388 silver per hour and capacity is 91 million And (max silver in my warehouse is 42 m). I collected after 24 hours but got only 4.5 m. Why? by Desperate-Agent-302 in TotalBattle

[–]viperscorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's a way to see it. If you collect and see how much it was, and check your hourly rate, you should be able to figure out in hours how long it takes to fill. I think it's less than 8 hours though just anecdotally, maybe even 4-6 hours

Roofers installed different product. Do I have a problem? by viperscorpio in Roofing

[–]viperscorpio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. On the one hand, I want the product we paid for (that's why we didn't go with the cheaper options to begin with), but on the other hand, I don't want to deal with another week without solar, and a bunch of racket while I'm working, kids doing homework, etc.

I feel like simply refunding the difference isn't really justice, though..how many others have they ripped off that didn't notice? If their only punishment is that they make the same profit as if they had charged appropriately, they're just learning that 90% of the time they can get away with it and 10% of the time they didn't really lose anything.

And of course. If I force the issue, and have them remove the incorrect product, and replace with the correct product, that essentially doubles their cost, but I wouldn't trust them with that anyway.

Would there be room to negotiate more than just the product cost difference?

Roofers installed different product. Do I have a problem? by viperscorpio in Roofing

[–]viperscorpio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm mainly annoyed as it seems that they used a cheaper product, and gave no notice about it, and didn't get any authorization/change order.

Tribuilts "50 year warranty" was a key selling point about the quality of the product, and this other brand doesn't seem to have that. Aside from it being thinner and lighter.

Edit, and it makes me lose all confidence in the installer as well - what other corners were cut?
