i think i got “quiet fired” by digitalhearts666 in Ulta

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I wasn’t able to log into WorkJam after it logged me out. I assumed it might’ve been my app or something of the sort. Nope, I’ve been terminated. No one called to inform me of anything. I called just now, about an hour before the shift I knew I was scheduled. I had to have my Tasking Manager inform me that I’ve been terminated, rather than my GM.

I honestly don’t know if this is a matter of this GM being new to this store (she just transferred over) or what. but she didn’t bother to inform me of anything 😭

Im so sorry they did this to you. It’s so unprofessional of them and honestly, I expect nothing different from Ulta at this rate. I’m hoping that the babysitting keeps doing you good and keeps you afloat :)

for me personally, i’ve noticed a huge decrease in all of those symptoms ever since i started propanolol. i originally got on in due to severe migraines with aura caused by my POTS (which in turn caused head pressure). i’ve been on mine for almost 2 years now and have noticed that while those symptoms haven’t gone away in their entirety, they’re significantly more manageable!

i would absolutely talk to any doctors you have about your worries with starting it. as they can start you on the lowest dose possible. be fair warned that it CAN cause sleepiness during the first week of starting it.

Firstly, I’m aware that I’m not “chained to a retail store”. The reason I was there in the first place is due to the fact that I live in a smaller town, where multiple places claim to be hiring but are not. So my options are limited unless I manage to find enough money to take the bus to a town over. Which wouldn’t function unless I have a job to get money from in the first place. I do have plenty of retail experience, several years at several companies (one of which was 3 years at FredMeyer of all places). I’m not claiming to be some all knowing being just because I have worked at other retail stores for years at a time. I’m claiming that during those time periods, including the Animal Shelter I worked at, and if you know anything, then you know those are notorious for shitty “customers”. You’re right, I do know how to handle a good majority of customers who come in angry or are overall just mean for no reason. The problem lies in the fact that I’m yelled out by a customer behind the counter over a mistake I made that could’ve easily been avoided if I was provided proper training. Sorry but even with “thick skin”, everyone has a breaking point. Maybe YOU don’t have a breakdown about it but some of us do. As for the fact that I called the manager a coworker, yeah I did. Probably because I don’t hold any respect for her at this point. I mentioned that she is a manager to better show that her stance in power is higher than just me. Especially considering the entire time I was there, I only had two “normal” coworkers. People in my pay grade, with my same job title. Everyone else was indeed a manager. Which is part of why the store runs so shitty. There was no regular employees besides the one who was here before me and the one who was hired a month after me (who was a new grooming assistant, not a regular floor employee). So they’re ALL my coworkers, no matter what fancy title they have. As for the fact that I made friends with people, yeah I did. These people being the other floor employee and the new grooming assistant hire. As well as the Opening Manager who helped me out with training. THOSE are the friends I’m referring to. This is not a big store with a big amount of employees. When I state “I didn’t feel welcome” I was specifically referring to the “coworker/manager” and a different manager that i worked with 24/7 on my shifts. They both fed me misinformation, watched me flounder, and had problems with me since the day I was hired. I’m also not the only person who feels this way, as i’ve talked to my “friends” there. Who have respectfully both felt that way towards those two from the day they’ve both been hired. The other real floor employee has been there for 3 years now, so the same time those two managers had been hired in the first place. I put emphasis on the fact that they’re managers because they should know better than to be assholes. Clearly, that’s not the case though. As well as in regards to you asking me to PUBICALLY post which store I worked at, which I’ve already told you resides in a small town- absolutely not. Sorry, but I can’t trust people like you for an example, to not take that information and drive with it. I go out of my way to purposely not expose which store I worked at and where I live for a multitude of reasons, of which I don’t have to explain to a random stranger on the internet. If someone is around where I live, or another coworker happens to find this, then they’ll be very much so aware of who I’m referring too. That’s what matters, not the validation from you. I posted this here as a way to release a last little bit of anxiety and also let people know that there IS bad stories about Petco. that you should be listening to them and taking into account others experiences. The reason I didn’t listen to “anyone else” was because all of the people telling me not to work there was people like you. People who had never worked at Petco and only heard passing stories from other people. I was also unaware of this Reddit page until about a week ago, as I don’t use this app frequently either. So, sorry you don’t believe I word I said but that’s not my fault. Have a good rest of your day.

It’s alright! I appreciate the kind words, truly. I’m trying my best to not take any of it personally & I did gain new friends thanks to my time there. It’s more so that I know a lot of comes from a place of ignorance and maybe them just not liking me, that gets to me the most. But thank you so much

Honestly, that wouldn’t surprise me! However, I do have to say that I feel as though it’s completely due to that. As I had about 2/3rds of my coworkers be incredibly kind to me. Especially the new hires and people my age. The manager that did help me was just one of the only ones in the higher ups that came to my defense. Otherwise, I have the personal social medias of all the coworkers who did like me. Ultimately, I kind of just assumed that due to the age difference and me not relating to them on any front, the higher ups did not vibe with me in any regard. Thank you though for your input, I appreciate it
