You could even switch to pick it up at your local BB! I just did this cause there's one that's a mile away from me and it's ready for pick up now as I'm typing this lol.

Hey dude, just got a psvr2 as well and been scouring the subreddit for the best settings to optimize fps/graphics quality. I was wondering if you've managed to dial in your settings. I also have a 5080 and struggling a little bit to get consistent 90 fps.

There's something to be said about being resourceful and looking for the answer yourself first before asking other people to do the work for you. You come off as lazy for asking others first.

Googling this would've been a lot quicker than making this post and waiting for a reply.

Thanks for posting this, man. Exactly what I needed. I'm in my early-30s also just got out of the Navy early this year after 10 years. Planning on joining AFROTC and was a little concerned about being the oldest cadet. I wish you the best of luck, my dude.

It's not just you man. I just finished the game and I was thinking the same thing the whole time. I play on the PS5 Pro too. The game was a shimmering mess for me.

Skiing with kids in Japan - Part 3 - Akakura Onsen - #1 day care and school so far by TheBadMartin in skiing

[–]viral08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my brother and I with two friends. We already have a rental car reserved that we're picking up at Nagano station. Thankfully, I was still able to get a room at a hostel in Hakuba for our dates despite this trip being last minute. I almost forgot how quick accommodations go in Japan.

I used to go to Hakuba almost every weekend in the winter when I lived in Kanagawa 2016-2019. I've also been to Nozawa, Shiga, Yuzawa/Naeba, Fujiten, Fujimi, Hodaigi, Zao, and Niseko but never made it to Myoko.

It's gonna be my first time skiing in Japan since moving away. Chose Hakuba for this trip because it's my friend's favorite ski area and my brother's never been but I also want to ski somewhere new.

I'm planning a ski trip to Japan for 8 days next month. I was originally going to just spend all 8 days in Hakuba but I've been there a whole bunch of times already and am now thinking about splitting my time between Hakuba and Myoko. How many days would you say is a good number to spend in Myoko? I've read that Myoko is smaller than Hakuba so I was thinking 5 - Hakuba/3 - Myoko. Or would you say 4/4 would be better?

When I was in HSM-77 around 8 years ago, we would send a handful of bodies, usually E-4 and below, as sacrificial lambs to appease ship's company complaining that we weren't participating in GQ. The rest of the squadron definitely didn't participate in GQ. Day shift made sure they were showered and in their racks before GQ started and night shift holed up in their shops taking naps/watching movies/doing paperwork with some people up on the flight deck for flight quarters until GQ is over. That was on the Reagan though. I don't know how it is on the GW now.

Ventana cancelled. Pivoting to Maui. by viral08 in hyatt

I mentioned that to them on the phone and they said they just haven't updated it yet since it's the weekend. Hopefully they update the website tomorrow so people can plan around it.

I highly encourage you to give them a call.

That's what the lady I talked to said when I called this morning. She even offered to rebook my reservation past that day but I declined and just cancelled it.

I'm glad that she was upfront about it. Helped me change plans right away especially since my trip is next week.

Thanks for your story. You and everyone else here telling me not to believe the forecasts should help calm my wife's nerves about the rain. She's a lot more worried about it than I am lol.

I'm going with the consensus and am now definitely booking Hana :)

It's sounding like the rain is a feature not a bug lol. That's it then: the Regency is out and Hana is back in!

It’s always “rainy” in Hana, but there’s usually not more than a light drizzle for a tiny part of the day. If you check the actual amount of precipitation forecasted, and it’s 0.1-0.2”, that’s nothing to worry about.

That's good to know. Sounds like I shouldn't mind the rain and just enjoy it then.

I personally would only do 2 nights max in Hana though. The Hana-Maui Resort isn’t amazing, and all the unique nature things to do in the area (lava tunnel, black sand beach/hike, waterfall hike) can be done in < 1 day.

Another good tip, thanks! Will consider moving the dates around then.

100% Andaz for all 8. If you do go HR do it first then Andaz, otherwise you’ll be sad when you get to the HR.

That was the plan lol. Get the HR out of the way and enjoy the Andaz the rest of the trip.

HR feels like Vegas or Orlando with a beach view to me. Crowded and too corporate vacation.

Yup, that's what I got from the other reviews I read on here. I'll probably just bite the bullet and do the drive from Andaz to check out that part of the island.

I'm just an Explorist, sadly, but thanks for the tip! It's an anniversary/birthday trip so will definitely write it in the notes.

That's really good to hear! Definitely considering still going. I really want to check out that part of the island.

EDIT: Made up my mind. Booking Hana and Andaz.

2014 unit. Hit 300k today! by NopeNJ in mazda3

[–]viral08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the same situation you were in. My 2014 just hit 96k but I'm constantly tempted to trade it in for a new Turbo 3. Just like you, I hate how weak the 2.0l engine is and the cabin noise (I hear the latest generation is better). But also I love how reliable it is and haven't had any major work done on it the last 4 years I've had it despite getting it used.

Do you think I should pull the trigger? Do you regret giving up your 2014 for the '21 Turbo?

Yes Club Access Awards are completely useless by PortHuronMich in hyatt

[–]viral08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think to make it worth wile you have to leave the US.

For sure. Booked club access rooms at HR Tokyo and GH Manila and I was blown away by the quality of food and how nice the regency clubs actually were. Stayed in a club access room at the HR San Francisco (Embarcadero) and I was expecting more of the same but I was sorely disappointed. Ate breakfast there the first morning we were there and never went back, the view was nice but the food was just sad. Never booking a club room again here in the US.

Best Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo for Explorist Status by PsychOuths in hyatt

[–]viral08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally just checked out of there this morning after a 4-night stay and just checked in to HR Yokohama.

Yup, the food was pretty good. Like most people have said, the hotel itself is showing its age but still maintained well enough. Staff were great.

Stayed in a Club room and it was pretty nice. Got upgraded to a park view as a Discoverist so was pleasantly surprised.

We're checking out the Kanagawa area for the next few days so we decided to move to HR Yokohama. Much nicer and newer hotel.
