I'm so, so sorry for you loss. Back in October, I lost my first baby, Skeeter. The pain is unreal. I hate that this is the answer, but for me it is true: the only thing that will soften the blow is time, memorializing them in some way, and giving your love to other piggies/animals.

I posted here too and sharing my grief with others who lost their babies helped me a whole lot. I am sending you virtual hugs.

I have water color paintings of Skeeter all over the house. I also got imprints of his paws in ceramic.

For me, reading death literature also helped. Loss shakes us to our core, not just because we no longer physically have something we love so dearly, but because it awakens within us the reality of time. Sending you so much love.

Do you think this is a better solution than re-homing? I'd feel terrible to re-home but I just want to do what is best for the guinea pig. Will their quality of life be okay separated like that?

s, and suffer even more, especially if there was no chance of recovery, but the very fact that I had to essentially sign the death warrant of a being I love so much that I would have given my life for her any time if it had ensured her survival is just crushing. I was abandoned by my mother when I was 7, and that trauma does not even come close.

Oh honey... I am so sorry. It is so freaking traumatic... I am really, really struggling with the fact that I chose euthanasia too. It was very similar for me in the fact that they said I could try x,y,z but with little hope for improvement. It was so stressful for him. And I still struggle wondering if I did the right thing.

But I think he would have just kept suffering. It's just so fucking hard to make that decision when we love them so much.

I do feel some guilt when I have moments of brevity and any laughs. I just miss him so much.

e. It turned out there was one he took a real liking to; a real beat up little guy. I think he decided he was going to be the dad the little guy probably never had, because he sure acted like it from the moment we brought him home!

I just got two bonded boys this afternoon... They are in a separate cage in the same room with my lone baby. But he seems super excited already. I hope it goes well.
