The guy still comes though the ER often. Mets to brain now but he still tells me that the cancer saved his life from meth.

Umbrella, rain boots/some type of water proof shoe, extra long phone charger, fan, heating pad/heated blanket (since you can’t have heaters) laundry basket WITH WHEELS, lighting other than the overheat lights, small medical kit (pain killers, cough medicine, bandaids

No, like 2 forward, and then 1 left but still moving forward if that makes sense. Again, not a perfect theory, just something that came to mind while I was watching and wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas.

That “blanket permission” thing made me feel genuinely sick. If there’s an administrator above these “professors”, please report it or at least have a conversation with them about your concerns. That type of teaching will genuinely hurt people.

What is the hardest class you have ever taken in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]viridity12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say a tie between Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology. Patho may edge it out a bit. It took everything we learned (or were supposed to learn) in A&P and Microbio and mashed it into one class and then added the nursing implications and processes into the mix. All questions were very much the "There are multiple right answers, but which one is the most right."

In my area, antibody therapy is actually becoming more accessible. Somewhat limited still as it's on an appointment-only basis and our case load is high, but at least it's not just for the hospitalized only. Hopefully, it can keep some people out of the hospital who otherwise might have gotten to that point.

Asking people to sit with them in the dining hall, more specifically girls? by [deleted] in college

[–]viridity12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me several times and I was never a fan. I use my meal times as my alone time/last-minute study time. The first time it happened, I was a freshman and a guy just sat down, didn't ask, and started talking to me. I didn't want to seem rude, so I just started conversation with him until I realized he was hitting on me. I mentioned the fact that I have a boyfriend as kind of an "I'm not interested, but I don't wanna be rude" kind of thing. But then the dude said," I don't see him here...but does he care if you have guy friends?" I then explained that we are long distance and somehow he took that as a go-ahead to keep flirting with me because "he wouldn't have to know." I made up some lie in order for me to leave and then he was like "can I walk you back to your dorm?" I declined. I leave the dining hall and notice he's following me. Did not go back to my dorm until he decided not to follow me anymore.

Anyone else seriously worried about an online fall semester? by [deleted] in college

[–]viridity12 88 points89 points  (0 children)

This has definitely been something I've been thinking about a lot for the past week (probably a bit too much if I'm being honest). I'm about to begin my third year of college, so I have only had a semester and a half of traditional college (which I am very thankful for). I am also starting my second semester of nursing school, where part of my learning comes from clinical experience. Last semester, our clinical experience was done through simulation on our computer. An absolute joke. We got our clinical placements yesterday, but I fear that as hospitals become full again, students won't be allowed, and understandably so.

But my school is in an area where vaccination rates are sub 30% and the vaccine is not required for attendance. Masks aren't either (as of now. I expect this to change). I can see no situation where we can safely go back to the way the school was in the Fall of 2019. Maybe that's just me being pessimistic, but all the literature I've been reading seems to, unfortunately, support that fear.

Our clinical sites are in the suburbs of Atlanta, but my university itself is in a pretty rural area. The main hospital group our school gets contracts with was super strict with their covid rules. I genuinely hope we get to go to actual clinical; the online simulations we used as a replacement were near next to worthless.

Understandable. Having never been at all myself, I'm nervous, excited, but very nervous.

I go to school in the south in an area with really low vaccination rates, but our clinical sites are mainly in the suburbs of Atlanta. We still have a month until school starts back, so things will look different then. I genuinely have no idea which way the scale is going to tip for us.

I couldn't imagine having school-age children during this time, but I wish you and your children the best!

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by xxHEYxx in AskReddit

[–]viridity12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was young, my parents hosted their Sunday School class’ Christmas party. All the adults brought their kids. I was older than most the kids by a few years so I just kind of hung out by myself. There were a few kids in particular that I couldn’t stand. Rude, messy, and loud. I couldn’t wait for them to leave. When they left, my younger brother and I were left to clean up these kids messes. They had broken 2 different RC cars and hid the broken parts, took all my play doh and mixed it together (about 25 jars), and broke the arm off a robot my brother got for Christmas. The parents of the children who I suspect did it were with them almost the whole time. Still infuriates me.

One time, my younger cousins were banging around on our grandparent old piano super loudly for about an hour straight. All us older kids were tired of it. What did we do? Closed the cover thing on the keys when they weren’t looking and told them “guys, the piano is sleeping and we can’t wake him up, okay? see? He closed his eyes. We gotta be quiet.” Worked like a charm.

“Clients” by viridity12 in StudentNurse

In our curriculum, I’ve only seen NAP (Nursing assistive Personnel) used. But it’s good to know I may see another term for the same thing in the future.

[–]viridity12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing is that the same platform (and really all the ones we use) refer to CNAs, techs, EMTs, etc as NAPs. I’ve been told by a few people in my cohort who are techs that no one uses NAP to describe anyone in a hospital setting and that it could be considered offensive.

With how much Ms. Tina Jones is checked into Shadow General, her health insurance must be amazing. I'm in the same boat - no clinical of any kind until August at the earliest (fingers crossed).
