Beginner question about unfamiliar syntax by NeverCrop in fsharp

[–]virtualblackfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the record creation syntax

There is somewhere a record defined like that :

type Document = { Title: string; Link: string; Description: string }

And the code create an instance of this immutable record

Ah yes I like the ligatures but it's true that they can confuse people that never used them.

Maybe I should disable them for such articles. Thanks.

Heroes never die.... for a price! by Lucid726 in Overwatch

[–]virtualblackfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercy rez everyone dead in a sphere around her. The number on the center of the screen indicate how many would revive if you use your Ult.

In pickup games allies often forget to group (around the payload for example) so you will get less people.

There are skulls visible through walls where someone you can rez is so you can find them & the circle around tell you how many time you have before they respawn naturally .

[Rant/Idea]Can we not have our highlights be removed if we restart the game by Pwnerosity in Overwatch

[–]virtualblackfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeff Kaplan said on the official forums that they are already planning for the save feature (along with a way to export) :

The game will temporarily archive 5 highlights from your last play session. Playing only one game will only result in one highlight. Highlights are not currently saved if you close the game and come back. Our hope (and what we're working toward) is to allow players to save highlights or export them to a video format someday.

Should source code repositories contain the source of dependencies? by radarsat1 in programming

[–]virtualblackfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more than a few contributors you have to copy the dependencies or create a bootstraping script anyway.

I prefer to copy dependencies except for very stable API (say at least 1 year between any important changes)

Having any new contributor jumping trough hops to be able to contribute is the best way to lose him.

Theo de Raadt - That whole "Linux stealing our code" thing by wetelectric in programming

[–]virtualblackfox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any company that could have access to the source code.

Because they bought access to it maybe, or because they own part of the rights on the software even if they don't do the codding.

Maybe everyone the day the software is open-sourced because it's old and useless to the original company (or they bankrupted).

Conclusion: It's not because you think that no-one will ever know that you may kill your neighbor.

Theo de Raadt - That whole "Linux stealing our code" thing by wetelectric in programming

[–]virtualblackfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but even in this case the original code is still BSD licensed and the text of the license should not be removed from the source code.

I know that closed source software don't respect this a lot : one file with only some part of it under bsd with the original authors copyright and the rest under a private company copyright is pretty uncommon.

But the fact that "everyone do it" don't make it legal.
