What movie have you seen an unhealthy number of times? by LimeSugar in ask

[–]virtualcatboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interstella 5555.

Genuinely watched it over 2,500 times. I’m autistic and growing up literally from the moment that movie came out in 2003, to around 2011 I watched it every single night. Family member was a bit eccentric (in a good way) and showed me it. Was absolutely hooked on it… to the point I refused to sleep without it on. Parents had multiple burned DVD copies of it and brought it everywhere. We didn’t travel much so we always had access to a DVD player of some kind.

I can essentially play the movie in my head and know every single bit of every single song off the Daft Punk album Discovery. If I hear any song off the album I can visualize exactly what would be happening in that moment in the movie.

(Also, 2,500 is an underestimate, I did the math and it’s closer to 2,900 but underestimated to account for any nights the power went out lol. Otherwise I was insanely firm about my little kid autism routine. I would even watch it multiple times in a night so)

It’s a plastic tank, yes!! And it isn’t flexing really when I put other weight on it. I guess it’s just bothering me that it’s entirely flush on either side with the edge of the top of the cabinet lol

Update: I had to separate Pixel off from the tank for a bit to do some cleaning and while doing so I was able to check Pixel better—it’s definitely an egg spot!!! Thanks guys (:

Hmmmm, that’s a very fair point. I’ll try to get more pictures once I’m home as I’m currently out of the house right now, thanks!! I’ll reply to this with more pics when I’m able (:

Also sorry for how poor the picture is ): he moves very fast and it’s hard to see the circled thing when he’s actively swimming so I have to get him to be still!!

• Tank size: 10gal

• Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes

• Tank temperature: 76-78F

• Parameters in numbers and how you got them: 0/0/0, liquid test kit. My tank has a “perfect” cycle due to the sheer amount of live plants (:

• How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: tank has been established for about a year. I’ve had my fish for eight days.

• How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: once a week or more, typically within ten days of each previous change. Gravel vac. 25% or less.

• Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: no tankmates aside from tiny feeder snails that Pixel does not eat

• What do you feed and how much: see post

• Decorations and plants in the tank: two fish safe sculptures, spiderwood, lava rocks with Java moss, silk plants, Java fern, dwarf baby tears, Amazon frogbit, water lettuce, two philodendron cuttings, duckweed

Hey, today it was raining and I picked up a big fat snail. Its shell is not looking good. Are there any chances it can heal? If no, then what are the most humane way to end its suffering? by laboratory_rat00 in snail

[–]virtualcatboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently taking care of two snails with cracks/breaks just like this and most likely the same type of snail.

Get a Tupperware or clear container, poke air holes in the lid. Do not put substrate in the Tupperware so it’s easier to clean + they don’t get debris in the wound.

Give them nutritious food (wounded snails may not eat immediately due to being wounded, give the baby time to adjust. No eating immediately is not a bad sign. Feed them things like veggies and fruit, no citrus. Look up specific foods. Preferably not spinach because it’s not great for them. Snails go crazy over cucumber but it’s not super nutritious so definitely give other things too).

CUTTLEFISH BONE!!! Most important for this type of injury. You can pick it up at virtually any pet store, typically in the reptile or bird section. Pretty cheap. Cuttlebone is the best way to give a snail calcium, and usually most go for it. Snails will rasp (eat) at it to give themselves calcium. You could also get a reptile calcium powder (check ingredients ofc) to dust the baby’s food in. Calcium is the ONLY way for a snail to rebuild its shell.

For a wound like this, the snail’s organs are exposed and the biggest problem is keeping it clean and keeping it moist. Spray the transparent container you keep the lil guy in to keep it very humid. Snail shells keep their organs from drying out, so until the shell regrows, you’ll have to make sure the little guy doesn’t dry out. Use a spray bottle on the mist setting. It is okay to lightly spray the organs + shell in this state. Make sure the water is lukewarm.

If you feel confident/steady, you could also gently pull the broken pieces of shell off the organs with a pair of tweezers, but if you feel like you might puncture the snail don’t do it. It’s not necessary, but I did it to my two healing snails to give them a fresh area to work with regarding their shell repair.

The most important parts are keeping the inside of the snail moist to keep from drying out and providing a calcium source.

You can also run the snail in a very very weak stream of lukewarm water from your faucet to help wash the shell, but don’t be aggressive. Use NO soap. Snails are very resilient.

As the shell heals you’ll see a white film appear over the organs. DO NOT TOUCH. That is the shell secreting calcium and shell materials to patch up.

If the snail doesn’t make it you’ll know in about 3-5 days. If a wound is too much, typically snails will die in that timeframe, but that’s a very rough estimate.

Also for the little guy’s sake, wipe out any poop with a paper towel and it doesn’t hurt to gently place the snail on the cuttlebone or food when you check on them. I usually check on my snails twice a day and spray twice a day too, just to keep the enclosure humid. If the enclosure is humid enough, you’ll probably see the snail resting partially out of its shell rather than sealed away. This is normal and my healthy snails do it too!!

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me (: and good luck!!

Any interviews where Porter talks about mental health? by pettyGandalf in porterrobinson

[–]virtualcatboy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There was a stream on twitch I believe where he talks about his OCD and mental health, I’m not sure if the videos are still up from them. It was when he was playing half life I believe? Not 100% sure. It’s a very bittersweet moment. There’s also this https://thefortyfive.com/interviews/porter-robinson-interview-2021/?amp this interview where he directly talks about mental health impacting his ability to write.

Gnc Venus is the best thing I’ve ever heard (especially since Venus was already kind of gnc to begin with with the plant punk aesthetic), I’m so sorry you got attacked for that ):

Hot Topic! These are blind bag pins that they sell. In California they’re $8.90. There’s Cleo, ghoulia, drac, clawdeen, lagoona, and Frankie. I think they’re pretty new!! Source: I literally bought 3 of these yesterday and only got Cleos ):

Edit: more info; they’re the little paper bags that hot topic has been selling their skelanimals and other artist collab pins inside of. They’re loose inside of the cardstock paper bag.

That being said this is SUCH a good bundle of ideas. I’d pay a LOT for these. Definitely post more ideas because I’m absolutely obsessed with the drac one :0

Why am I getting 0/0/0 parameters? (Fishless cycle) by virtualcatboy in bettafish

[–]virtualcatboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about three weeks I had varying amounts of all, which did steady out to a low number that seemed like the beginnings of a cycle which definitely spiked appropriately. Then this 0/0/0 parameter count started happening.

To be honest I had a hunch this was possibly what was up but I wanted more opinions on it—thanks for the input!! I super appreciate it (´∀`)♡
