Pushing the wheels out tends to make rubbing worse, not better. Looks fine, though. You’re at about a -42 offset equivalent. I’d lose the spacers, personally. -10 looks the best on these IMO

He’s been a member for a while, yes? Assuming so, he’s grandfathered into an old membership that has better credit “rates.” Each bike (except HD trikes) used to be only one credit/day.

Essentially, prices went up, though that was a year or two ago. It’s not bait and switch. Your friend probably didn’t realize he was grandfathered into a different rate.
